Installed Traqmate Studio on a new computer running windows 7. When i try to down load data from the diplay unit I get the message "auto connect cannot detect diplay unit". removed program and reloaded still no luck. I tried it on another windows 7 computer same thing. Both computers showed the traqmate connected through the usb port.It doesn't seem to be communicating with the software.

I connected the traqmate to an older computer running windows xp and it works fine.

anybody else have this problem? any suggestions? sent an Email to Traqmate but no help so far.

This is easy to fix

The newer laptops and PC's have many ports, and the Trtaqmate by defualt only tries about 18 or 20 ports (dont rememeber exactly)

If you see that TM goes up to 18 ports only, then do it manually and start from port 19, and just increase the port number incrementally by 1 until TM connects to the display unit.

Should also be answers for this on the TM forum at www.Traqmate.com

did you check the forum -
Both my laptops are W7 (one 32 bit on 64 bit) - installed fine on both of mine, but I had to do it manually

Just finished phone conversation with Ron@Traqmate, went through reinstall and no luck, apparently there is some thing with the newest version of windows7 that maybe causing the problem. Computer is latest from Sony only a a week old and has only been available for 2 weeks. They indicated this is a problem that has just started to show up and are working on a solution

Sorry to hear that - my new Sony is a 3 month old model - Win7, 64bit, Intel Core 5 2.8Ghz processor, 8GB memory, 2TB drive. Had no problems installing TM, but for recognising the Display Unit I had to find the ports manually. Be curious to know what is different on the new Sony's - guess it has something to do with the USB drivers and whether it disallows you to install the TM USB drivers.

Let us know when you find out.

Try to find one with XP on it??? You could even go to a computer repair store and buy a cheap refurbished one that you only use for track stuff.

I have come across enough incompatibility issues with Win7 64-bit with data systems (plus some other programs / USB-serial drivers / etc) on my new computer that I'm actually going to have my old one rebuilt - new HD (old one crashed) and reinstall Windows XP.

Traqview and R-T Analysis might end up being the only programs I even install. Clean and simple.

The old one will become my good ol' reliable track computer while the fancy new one stays home.

I might be able to do more with the new one, but the reliability of the old one with XP and minimal CPU/HD load will be hard to beat at the track.

Well my problem is solved,I took the Sony viao F2 back to Sony and took the refund and went across the street to Best Buy and purchased a HP Pavillion dv7.
i was a little apprehensive about loading the the software so i used the link Andre sent by email (which did not work on the sony) and loaded the soft ware. i plugged in the display unit and was rewarded with the message traqmate display unit connected to port 3. clicked on auto connect and it works.

Big thanks to Ron, Andre and Glen for all their help. I'm not sure why the sony would not work but very happy with the HP so far

WAG: your laptop may have had USB3.0 ports only (typical of Sony to push the envelope to the fullest with new hardware revisions) and for whatever reason the driver's didn't want to present any ports to the software.
Part of the reason for this is the early adoption of USB3.0 by OEMs have used add-on bits since Intel's "Sandy Bridge" chipset was the first product to include it "on board".

It may be best to use USB2.0 ports for TM connections - duly noted (says the man with some USB3.0 ports).
