my post was not supposed to be definitive! Yes it was intentionally cryptic, but it was also supposed to illuminate some of the differences without giving the whole game away. Alex Bolanos said it best......testing, testing testing.
That's what this sport is all about. Finding what suits you best.

Unfortunately so much of this discussion so far is conjecture, and the only thing that counts at all is what it feels like through the taut skin of your butt as you haul the mail through the corner, closing your eyes and praying you are not going to wad it up, and if you are lucky, just kissing the wall on the exit.

Try the Hoosiers on for size, then lets start comparing notes. Every driver will come away with a different feel, a different setting and a different experience. Back to testing, testing, testing.

I'm going to stick with my previous statement, before and after testing Same people will be winning, but fields will be tighter.

I have not seen anything regarding a Hoosier contingency program for regional events. (surprize, surprize)

It appears that once again we are the redheaded stepchildren of the SCCA.

On the upside I won't have to worry about Hoosier stickers for my car. Nobody rides for free.

I dont think so, I bought some at the NASA nationals and they were almost 1000.00

Per their release it does. Indicates something like 4% savings on sm6 tires and 25% on h2o. I asked Hoosier about getting a set for last weekend. They said I would have to wait til 2012 to get price.

Based on these two comments, I'd guess that the current $166 price of the SM6 is based on the old deal (pre SCA contract award), but I'd hate to have to wait tiill next year to buy a set of rains (which I need now) in order to get the $166 price.

Regional requirements and deals are run by local regions not the national office of SCCA. If you want contingency for your regional races, ask your regions work out some deal. I know of other regions that have done this.
