I am looking to buy a couple of sets of SM6. Who's out there catering to the SM community with these tires ?

Anybody buy and from who. On internet ? Shipping ?

The reason I ask is I dont see anything on the internet that is sticking out and saying HERE ARE THE SM6's COME GET EM.

Jeff:

Pretty sure the price will be set nationally....or only off by a couple of dollars per tire.

In our area you have smarty (NE tire) and Phil's who are hoosier dealers. I think unfortunately for us they are both in NY so we'll have to pay tax and shipping.

Phil's tire service is supposed to be doing some type of black friday deal. give them a shout.

That answers some questions. I just don't understand why you don't see any promotion by dealers or even Hoosier themselves ??? you think they would be pushing it

You can if you know who to ask and do some legwork. Can't speak for anyone in your parts, but our divisional Hoosier rep is accomodating us nicely.

So Phil . just for the sake of asking. Why dont you advertise this on your site ? SM is the largest group in the SCCA and nasa. A good time to start getting the word out

Are the Hoosiers now available at the previous stated price of $166 each? And does anyone know how this will all work? I presume we will get them from our local dealers but need to know the reduced price is available. I'd like to get a set of H2O's ASAP.....Happy New Year everyone!

As I said above, Hoosiers were available months ago at the SCCA price by calling around. You need to find out who your Hoosier dealer is in your area and call. I think each division has an official (at least 1) identified dealer obligated to the SCCA terms. In addition, I think some national distributors are following the price structure.

Know that there may not be a whole lot of experience with this, but do folks here have any experience with using SM6's that were heat cycled by Phil's?
I've heard that some vendors doing heat cycles on race tires seem to do better than others (heat cycle longevity/speed on track, etc). Not implying anything about Phil's service specifically, just curious if there are folks who can comment on real world experiences with it and whether it provides value (same perf as if you cycled them on track)...

Well, I can tell you that heat cycling on the track is the best, if you have the extra wheels, the time/sessions/practice day and do it correctly, but my HC is the next best option. I also can tell you that my process is the same exact process as I would recommend if you were to heat cycle them on the track, without, of course, the track process (hysteresis).

I have had many competitors tell me that the tires I heat cycled were faster sooner and longer than the tires that were not heat cycled. There was an obvious difference. One such competitor was Chris Cobetto, 3x NASA Spec E30 National Champ and 2nd at the 2011 NASA Nationals in American Iron. He is also the NASA Mid Atlantic Director.
