I bought the full NRG set up (quick release hub and wheel). Been using it for about a year and a half. I found the bolt holes in the steering wheel tend to "woller" out if you don't keep the bolts tight. I neglected to see this and finally noticed the wheel getting loose in my hands. I attributed it to the slop in the QR, but by the time I figured it out, damage was already done to the bolt holes in the wheel. Corrected by adding  pan head bolts with small washers.  This weekend however, I had the steering wheel crack on two of the 3 spokes!!! Never been in a wreck and never have put the wheel in any undue stress. The Quick release is still fine, but will be looking for a new wheel.

Are the bolt patterns standard on the adapters/wheels, or do I need to do some measuring to make sure things will fit?  I'm looking at a Momo Mod 88 wheel, and it notes that you need a momo adapter.  I'm not sure what is on my car at the moment, so I'm curious if i'll need a new quick release as well, or if things should bolt up...

Also- do you guys run 350mm or 320mm wheels?

This is the Sparco wheel that I use. Flat bottom, 330mm, drilled for PTT buttons, and very comfortable.

I have had these on all my cars for the past 6 years. Note that it is from their "Street" collection, not their "Competition" collection, but in case anyone is worried, I have had some pretty severe offs and have never bent or damaged the wheel. I have tried some others on occasion that bend like pretzels!

I agree with Momo recommendations.  I have tried some other popular Brands and found them to bend very easy and I never felt safe with them in the car. I use the mod 88 and the 78. Both are exceptional.. I also use the NRG quick release with no issues.

For the issue you mentioned above, we loctite every steering wheel we install. It is a PITA should you need to remove the wheel, but much better than a steering wheel coming loose.

NRG quick releases are nice. For track use we remove the 'safety lock button' to make it easier to release the wheel in an emergency or remove the wheel with gloves on. There is a small set screw that holds the spring and lock button in place. Maybe about a 5 minute job.

I'm using an OMP WRC with a SPA quick release. I used to run a Sparco Ring, small d-shaped wheel, when the car had power steering. Loved the thumb areas on that wheel. But dropping the power steering a seat change made me look for a new wheel. The WRC has the proper dish for my seating position and the slightly larger diameter helps lower steering effort.

Thanks for the input guys.  Are the bolt patterns the same across all of the hubs and wheels- i.e. an NRG or SPA quick release will work with Momo and Sparco wheels?  It sure sounds like that's the case... :)

^ the SPA hub requires a 3 hole to 6 hole steering wheel adaptor, which they sell. I've had mine for a while now with no issues. They may offer a straight 6 hole version now. -- Don't know. I also recommend the use of thread locker on the screws.

Does the NRG quick release require an additional adapter?  Or just the kit and a 6 hole steering wheel?

Thanks
