Recently, Ive been debating if I should turn my s2000 into a W2W Honda Challenge car / PT car with NASA, or just sell it and buy a spec miata. I recently bought a 94' Miata to daily and track/autox and must say I have more fun in it than I do in my s2000 when at the track.

I run my s2000 in NASA Time Trials currently in TTC and will be going to Nationals at Mid-Ohio next week, but after nationals I think I will be selling the s2000 and begin looking for a SM over the winter.

Every SM driver I've ever talked to raves about the community and the actual racing being much more fun than other classes they have raced in. I'd like to get into SM because it seems that the race at the back or even mid pack is just as fun as the race at the front of the pack...that and the fact that on any given weekend, you'll have at least a few other cars to race against - a big plus in my book.

Just wanted to drop by and introduce myself so if you see me asking painfully obvious questions, you know the reason why.

Hope to see you all around!

Sounds like a smart decision to me! Be prepared to bake your best Humble pie and join in on the madness...for the most part you wont be sorry ;) :D Go shake hands with the many SM drivers who will be at the Nationals and talk it up...most are happy to share!

I feel I have learned more from racing Spec Miata then everything else I've ever driven/raced combined! SM is a great platform with drivers of all skill levels, making it very fun no matter if you're the slowest or fastest guy on track! I've yet to see someone get out of an SM on their first day and say "This sucks, what a waste"

Started in NASA Great Lakes in April 2010, I had driven the SM at a few DE's after buying it, having never raced. My first DE in the SM, I curesed myself for ever buying it, I couldn't get that car to do anything I wanted. First race at Mid Ohio I qualified DFL out of 28, was still in DFL at the half way point of the race, and finally I got myself up on the wheel and passed 8 cars in about the last 7 laps or so. The entire first year was a very humbling experience, but within that year I went from DFL to top 5 by years end. I am now glad that I bought that first SM, I have made some really great friends racing, and have met some terrific people, I have had competitors help fix my car, give me parts that i needed, etc. etc. etc.

Anyway welcome to SM! It is a one SOB of a group to race in, but IMO the most rewarding when you improve. So much to it, from car prep, to setup, to qualifiying strategy, and racecraft, second only to witchcraft :) See you at nationals!

Satire is primarily a literary genre or form, although in practice it can also be found in the graphic and performing arts. In satire, vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, and society itself, into improvement.[1] Although satire is usually meant to be funny, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using wit as a weapon.

I've driven many different types of cars from the Indy Pro and ALMS IMSA-Lites Prototype to a Spec Miata and I must say that I STILL learn a lot about my driving from the Spec Miata. I would definitely invest in the Miata as it's a great car to run in so many different ways. Cost being one of them!
