The Glen Region's Last Chance event in October hopes to include an Enduro, as in years past. We are trying to think outside the box a bit in order to cut down on our OT costs to WGI.
What do folks think about a four hour Enduro that stops for the lunch hour? WGI requires us to be off the track from about noon to one; it's non-negotiable.
Pros and cons?

If I attend the last chance, I'll do the enduro no matter how it's set up. I just need to find a tall co-driver who can reach the pedals in my car.

How about one 4 hour enduro with a grid reversal for the top 10 drivers of the first stint after the break?

This should work better than a full grid reversal so the back markers don't get swallowed up by the train that will eventually reach them...

Thanks for the input. As of right now, we plan to have the Drivers' School. Having two Enduros is unique, but I would have to get one sanction/race from SCCA, thus increasing the cost of the event. Last I knew, drivers liked longer Enduros; has that changed? Our Comp Board has deemed this a "break-even" event (we never make $ on a DS weekend), so any help is appreciated to meet that goal.

Why do you need 1 1/2 day drivers school?
I don't see a need for it, look at the Nediv school schedule.
Do a Friday only school.
Saturday AM qualifying for Sundays regional and a 3 hour enduro Saturday afternoon.
Sunday, everyone gets longer races.

The only way to get the students 3 hours of track time for their school is to run a 1.5 day school. (Unless you buy OT, which is not cheap...).

Not sure why? We get it done at our schools.

It's a simple matter of time on course. How many hours per day (not including OT) do you get at NHMS?

Tall...I'm tall, too. Oh, wait...do you need a license to drive a Miata?
Adam, I love the four hour as well. It's tough for us to get the DS down to one day. We have three DS groups, with each requiring three hours of track time. A "day" at WGI, without overtime (at $2600/hour) only gives students 2.33 hours on track. Eliminating one group would be a political nightmare (someone is going to be unhappy); we could, if the stewards agree, combine two groups instead, and give a split start to offset any HP differentials. I'll have to ask EZ, but I am still not sure that would work. Theoretically, it would. We are spending a romantic weekend fixing up the kitchen and his Kia, so we'll see if we can toss around some timetables.

What ever you decide our whole crew will still be there. This is our favorite event. You just can't have grid reversal, ti causes big wrecks. that is why we we went to qualifying times for the start instead of the lottery system.
In rallyes you stop for lunch, the cars go into service for a limited time then they were parked (hands off) until the break was over then back to racing.


The team strategy is the difference in the 3 or 4 hour events, we like that aspect, but we'll be happy with whatever you come up with

If the only place you had for the enduro was around lunch hour, you could consider holding two 'heats' before and after lunch - possible with a scoring system based on points from both heats - consider impounding cars (no work) during lunch to maintain the continuity of the event (like a one hour red flag situation). I think you should be able to maintain the character of the event while working around your track parameters.
