I need to buy a [overpriced] transponder. Where is the best place to get one of these? Does anyone offer any discounts on them?

Thanks.

I had to buy a new one last season and couldn't find anyone that offered a significant discount. I went to Racer Parts Wholesale in Indianapolis. http://www.racerpart...ayITInCarTiming

The cheapest way I've gotten y previous transponders was through club buys at the beginning of the season when they were refreshing the rental units. It's still not that big of a discount.

AMB does not allow their dealers to discount their products, that is you'll see Group Buys... Weekend-Racer.com is willing to do one but needs to do some research before offering a price.

PM me if you are interested.

AMB does not give much of a discount to its distributers, so not much room to discount.

My understanding is that the margin is pretty low to begin with, I've heard around 15% markup. The list price on a hardwire 260 is $405. RPW and others have them for $399. IIRC the two I bought from the club were only about $25 off list.

I hosted a group buy for transponders last year where we sold over 40 units just before their price went up and I think we paid about $350.
PM me and I may be able to help you some.
I am also doing another group buy right now for SA 2010 helmets and getting 20% off Bell and similar discounts off other manufacturers. Let me know if anyone is interested.
Ken
