My friend at 034 said 1:38ish 15k for a seatI saw that Audi TT RS on track, its FIRST TIME on track, at Thunderhill when we were testing the Norma. To say it is a work of art is an understatement of huge proportions. If ever there was "auto porn", that car is it. Robb was turning 1:44's in it within a hour of it being on track for the very first time. Our Norma, 1000 lbs lighter with 300HP and huge downforce, was only 4-5 seconds faster.
Please, please, please don't let it rain next weekend!
Good luck,
J~

I'm proud and excited to be the Crew Chief for a grass roots effort put together by 3 local Nor Cal drivers and one cross country partner! Team Race Engineering West, headed up by Darin Polsley with drivers Dan Cooper and Phillip Holifield, will be driving a 99 Miata in the E3 class. Power plant has been graciously provided by Bob Thornton/Race Engineering. It was hoped Bob would make the trip and join us in the car but the stars just weren't aligned this year. Thank you Bob! We hope to bring you yet another Championship to hang on your wall We will be running Hoosiers as this turned out to be our best option! We will also be putting the Royal Purple(Official NASA oil)stickers on our car as their contingency offer of a $2000 Sparco race suit for every winning driver is just to good to pass up!
My prediction is this may prove to be one of the most competitive 25hr races ever across the board. Every class is well represented with the E3 class stacked with a stellar field of top drivers and teams. Best of luck to all!
We also hope to announce next week something really exciting Come back to this thread as the race nears!
JD...its Pobst!

AMG, with team partners Optrix, BFGoodrich, Mazda, and Cobalt Friction, will campaign three Mazda MX-5’s for the race, in three separate classes – E0, E1, and E2. AMG has won the 25 Hours several times in previous years and looks to add more wins to their list that includes three Playboy MX-5 Cup championships and a World Challenge championship.
In the E0 class, Australians Daniel Deckers and Michael Hall are making their way to the US for their 25 Hour debut. Deckers and Hall race in a Mazda MX-5 in Australia with Deckspeed Racing, so it was only natural for them to run an MX-5 at the 25 Hours. Joining them will be Stephan Tisseront and Kevin Baillie. Tisseront, part of the AMG team that finished third at the 13 Hour race a month ago, will also be making his debut at the 25 Hours. Baillie, sponsored by Optrix and Atomic Fiction, is a regular Spec Miata competitor and will be orchestrating a film crew throughout the weekend in addition to his driving duties.
In the E1 class, Mazda ladder alumni Todd Lamb, Andrew Caddell, and Brad Rampelberg join with Ryan Winchester for a veteran lineup in the Optrix sponsored MX-5. In addition to all four drivers having Grand Am experience, each have competed in the 25 Hours previously, with Caddell and Lamb (both sponsored by SafeRacer) winning their first 25 Hours event as co-drivers in 2007. Lamb and Winchester were Touring Car teammates this year, competing against AMG in World Challenge the entire 2012 season. Caddell is a driver in the Traxxas off-road racing series TORC, and is a regular winner on BFG off-road tires. However, he has strict orders to use only the blacktop for this event.
In the E2 class, Guy Laidig and Beau Borders (sponsored by Pivothead) make their return to the 25 Hours, co-driving with Todd Launchbaugh (sponsored by Lee & Associates Commercial Real Estate / Right of Way) and World Challenge standout Travis Wolcott. Laidig and Borders finished second last year at the 25 Hours, and look to improve on that result with help from Launchbaugh and Wolcott.
AMG team owner Jason Hoover: “The crew has been prepping cars for this race for over a month. We’re all excited to get out there and see our hard work pay off. We’ve hand selected a great group of drivers once again this year, and we’re confident that they can get the job done. It’s a long event, so we’re prepared to use our experience and run a smart race and be there at the end. Generally speaking, from there the results take care of themselves.â€
Over the course of the weekend, Optrix will be creating a promotional video utilizing their new product that turns the iPhone into a videocamera suitable for in-car HD recording. AMG’s E1 car, complete with Optrix wrap, will appear in the Optrix booth at the Consumer Electronics Show in as-raced condition in Las Vegas in January.
Driver/coach Todd Lamb: “I am looking forward to representing BFG, Optrix, SafeRacer, and all the other partners at the 25. The BFG was a great tire in the MX-5 Cup series and has always been perfect for longevity in these endurance races. Hopefully we can get all three cars on the podium with these excellent driver lineups – I’ll be working with our new drivers to get them up to speed at Thunderhill during the test days. We’ll be using a new Optrix camera setup for driver coaching for the first time on Thursday.â€
