Well I am hearing rumors that this may all work out in the end - latest on Twitter is that COTA is cancelling all club events in 2013.

Frank, don't write it off yet. If CoTA had contracts with the DE guys, there probably will be some form of compensation for breaking them. I assume CoTA got a much sweeter deal from someone who was willing to reserve a big block of time. Breakage fees for the DE guys should have been part of the negotiations with the new lessee. Not saying you'll get all your plane fare back, but some form of make-good should be forthcoming. Ultimately, that will depend on how much compensation your DE guy gets, and how much he is willing to pass along to you...and how big a stink you are willing to make about it.

I would be down for doing a Feb at ATL... The big question is will there be a continued race at COTA in march or will that eventually go away or will it change to a different date.

There is always a Thursday practice day and then Friday is equal. It is the next weekend from cota march 14-17.

Discussion right now is whether to have Pro IT race or not. Any of you interested in the Pro IT as extra practice session or would you rather have a SM shoot out. Put $50 of each extra entry in a Saturday end of day winner 50%, 2nd 30% & 3rd 20% payout. One 20 minute session on Friday, another 20 minute on Sat and 15 lap race at end of day. Probably a $150 fee for shoot out. Pro IT entry fee probably $325.

Any thoughts or other ideas. Not much extra time for much additional over what I just suggested time wise.

We went with the Pro IT since no one seemed interested in anything else. The ECR was a no go with the Majors format of victory laps and groupings. We tried to separate groups so SM guys could double/triple dip if wanted. Track will open Wednesday for those who are there and test day Thursday. We hope those of you planning to do COTA survive and come join us for some just normal "man drama" SM racing. I'm Chief of Tech so things should go smooooooth!

BTW, I got a special Magnum of Champagne left over from the Hooters Pro Cup days for the SM winner on Saturday.
