I really like the Nelson Ledges track,  Haven't been there in about 14 years.  Would love to go but have other plans for that weekend.

IMO, the 4th of July weekend is not a good weekend to host a club race or a DE. I have been involved in putting on the the PCA club race at Mid Ohio for the last 4 years. we used to have our race in the middle of August, perfect date, just before the end of summer, in a good slot, in the PCA national calender. We had good numbers, good weather. Well as you know NASCAR is coming to Mid o that weekend so we got bumped to the 4th of July weekend. Our attendance this year is  poor.. the club is going to take a bath on this, as well as the DE we had in April when it was snowing while we were instructing.

 

People like to spend that weekend with the family. The only time my wife ever gets aggravated with my hobby is when I leave her home alone on a holiday weekend.

 

I keep losing money like this for the PCA i will be looking for job with the SCCA.

Works out well for me, I get a holiday on Thursday 7/4 so I only have to use one vacation day for the test day.

Seriously, which would you rather do on July 4th weekend? Grill up some lips and assholes on a bun and drop potato salad in your lap? Shoot off your fingers and put out your eye lighting fireworks? Watch some crappy highschool band march down Main Street? Or RACE?

I would rather be at Lake Cumberland with my beautiful wife, laying in the 80 degree water drinking an Ice cold beer, rather then stressing if I have the right set fo tires on the car, and is my toe right!

Major racing burn out for me right now...  If I was gonna race July 4th weekend I would be headed to Watkins Glen, where alot of really good guys, some of which are really good drivers will be racing!

 

Denny, I hope you have a terrific weekend at Nelson!  You never know its possible you might bring AJ out of retirement supposedly he may be staging a comback!  He is in preperation for Gingerman Major I hear...  If he shows up at nelson and you can beat him without him having a mechanical DNF I will give you $10 I will try to mnake the bet with him as well so if he does lose I have my end covered

Less then a 10% chance i will be there, Tow vehicle is broke down and I am tired out...  There will be plenty of great racers at Watkind for you DrDoom
