You'll probably be getting a generic survey from Topeka, but I'd like to hear what you did and did not like about our Majors race at GingerMan ths past weekend. I know we need to separate the SM group from the STL group by at least one group for next year.

Positive and negative criticism accepted.

Thanks,

Jeff

SM needs its own group, the race was sorted out early on by a back marker from another class on lap 2.

Races are toi long at 21 laps, shorten to 15 and run 7 race groups.

Please have qualifying for the sunday race rather then a qual race, to much chance for torn up equipment.

Expedite the tech like we did at Mid Ohio, no need to be held 30 minutes just for nothing, hold top 3-5 if you want and tech them, let others leave after the podium celebration, I know its a rule but its sensless.

Seperate SM from STL by more then 2 groups.

Dont let Votek win all the SM races. Oh i guess that was our job :)

All in all it was a great event, with great clean racing unless you count frank stealing half the sand for the sand tap and taking back to ohio :)

And Please thank the Series Steward and Majors Steward who stayed near the tech shed to make sure there was no repeat of MIS, those two guys actually listened and cared about our input and I truly appreciated it!

pretty much the same as Caveman.

SM in its own group and no qualifying race, too much red mist with that.

tell the guy behind me at turn 11 that there is no need to punt me that he can pass me on the front straight :P

and as Caveman said it was a great event and cant wait to come back next year.

Jeff congrats on a good Major, I know you and your crew worked hard to put on a good event and listen to your drivers wants and needs. I thought the food was good and folks were friendlily. I think you know from talking to Caveman and I that we would really would like STL and SM run groups separated next year, it made it tiring to do 5 sessions on Saturday, but you could not get that change done this year, we know.

Releasing the drivers after the impound was a little slower than some other majors but way better than MIS, so big improvement there.

All in all i would give at a A.

It was fun racing against you Saturday, some good close racing with no contact. As Kyle said I tested the final turn sand trap on the Sunday qualifier, I hit that sucker at 60 mph and stopped well short of the wall. I am still picking sand out of me teeth.

I know you have many constraints within the GCR guidelines. Races must be 45 miles at a National event, so that means 20+ laps. Specified amount of track time before the first race, etc. You can do nothing about this except ask Topeka for a change. This may all be different once the new Majors 2014 format is released.

Maybe go to a 3 day format like used in January at Sebring. Friday is all practice, Qualify and race Saturday, qualify race on Sunday. Hey CRB/BoD members, how about a set schedule for all Majors in 2014. Rotate the groups, but have them all the same time schedule. June Sprints being the exception.

Seperate SM and STL. Give SM our own group, we deserve it.

If you are going to hold cars in tech, DO SOMETHING!!!! We where weighed and our tires looked at and still had to sit in the sun for almost an hour.

No changes to the race winner, I really like that part  :toast:

I would also vote for a time qualifier for Sunday rather than a qualifying race.

Racing at 5pm was  a tick more difficult after doing two races and two qualifiers earlier in the day. To Dave's point either use the time in impound to look at all the restrictors or something or let us go.

Still a fun event however.

Fun event. Great park like setting. The Gingerman staff was so friendly and accommodating. Very safe track. Registration was much better than MIS. Food was great.

I am with caveman. Could do without qualifying races. Too much chance of messing up your equipment.

I know it is a rule but shorter races would be much more fun, especially when it is hot. I have not met anyone that was on track that was looking forward to 21 laps in the heat. 15 laps would have been ample.

I appreciate your enthusiasm throughout the event and the same could be said for the track staff. Aside from a few details, technical and logistical, this was what the SCCA would love to see at all events. It was about having fun while being competitive. A great first time experience. Thank you!

Good event, everyone seemed to try to make it enjoyable, even the Gingerman track with it's extra long test day/evening.  Unlike last year, they used the PA system and I could tell the schedule (which was adhered to as best as possible = no extra padding between groups).  They even did a split start without all the crap that we had to go through last year.  I would like to see a separate SM run group, but the counts weren't really there to make it possible (including SRF which did have their own run group).  Really no negatives, a very well put together event.  Much better than last year, better than MIS.

I must be one of the few that enjoy longer races, that is part of why I like majors.
