Lots of good info here. Thanks for posting.
To apply this to traqmate is pretty easy. It is probably covered in a seminar but basically you can do the same thing by:
Open up the same session - up to 8 times
Click on a different lap in each session
(if you click on several laps in the same session, the graph becomes that many laps long, instead of overlaying laps on top of each other)
You will have different color lap traces. Again up to 8.
To compare the same spot with the cursor on the laps, on the "dashboard" screen hit "setup">>> then "Options" and check mark "Single distance graph cursor"
He found two inconsistent areas to work on that had a median variance of about .4s each. Good find. He is comparing to his best lap, but in fact had better sections (at least one time) in that area, so on traqmate, I would make the first lap opened the "Best theoretical lap" (with some good generalized section splits). This will pull out your most successful segments regardless of what lap they are in. Making it the first lap makes it the reference for the time gap graph, and the cursor.
His bottom graph is accomplished by the "time gap vs. Distance" graph in traqmate.
You can zoom in for analysis using the cursors on the toolbar, but be sure to go to the "view" menu, then autopan, then the first driver choice (which will be your TBL) to index the screens to the cursor movement so you don't have to do it manually.
One other suggestion. If you find a corner where line entry vs. exit line is a tradeoff, and you really want to see what was best and why, then move the "start/finish" to some point immediately in front of that section, such as the start of the brake zone. The reason for this is that all of the "vs. distance" graphs have a cumulative error the farther away you are from the "start/finish" marker, because of the slightly different lines you drive around the track each time. So, if you zoom in on the graph and decide that it was quickest to turn in 5 feet further, it may be that the 5 extra feet was traveled earlier in that lap from sliding wide somewhere, and you are making a false conclusion. Moving the start finish to immediately in front of the corner you are looking at eliminates that.

PS - Hey Glenn, for the traqmate wish lists: I sure like how you can change colors, but most importantly - SCALING! A miata accelerates so badly that it would be nice to have the accel scale .3 while still having a -1 g scale for braking. This would be so helpful!
