Awesome!! That is an epic photo! Wish our car didn't look like such a pile...LOL!! I realized we got the SCCA stickers covered up but didn't even put NASA stickers on it...oops!
Will try to make this short...may not be possible! I decided to take my sons car up and do a little HPDE this weekend for the first time behind the wheel in a couple years. I hadn't been in the parking lot for 15 minutes when I was introduced to Joey and asked if I would be interested in renting the car(Joey's car took a crap during the test day)? Though I new right away I would do this, because i'm not in the rental business, I did make a phone call to another racer who is and i knew had a car that would be competitive. But he was out of town so Joey and I came to an agreement, shook hands, and the weekend quickly changed directions!
Though I did go out in my first group 2 session, I quickly realized, after watching 2 BMW drivers wreck their street rides, that getting a few laps in was the least important thing and that Joey needed to complete his weekend without any interruptions from me. So I put my crew hat on and completely enjoyed watching as Joey got in a strange car and drove it like it was his own! Not only a strange car but a backwards track direction on day 2(he had never driven)and proceeded to finish P2 in a tough top 10 field
Best part of the weekend for me was the opportunity to meet a well grounded, polite, humble and talented young man/driver. Great supportive parents in Joe and Janice who are instilling life skills in a 19 yr old that will ensure our next generation has a few adults with a clue!
As to Joe's comment on a disagreement...I remember thinking I knew i would like Joey when and if i met him based on what he wrote in that particular thread. And my particular ire in that thread was never intended for him but a couple of other adults who I felt should know better.
I cant wait for Sonoma to see what shakes out in the Teen challenge. Sounds like the top 4 all have the ability to walk away with the Championship!
