I just bought a seat that I need to install (Sabelt Taurus).  Unfortunately, it didn't come with any documentation.  From poking around, it looks like that the installation hardware is fairly consistent and standard.  M8x1.25 25mm bolts.  Is that correct?  What do you torque them down to with the brackets?

I've heard stories of folks over torquing and pulling out the threaded inserts.  Trying to avoid that problem.

Also, is it necessary to use button head bolts or will any ones do?  I have some allen head cap screws that I was giong to use unless you guys tell me differently.

Lock washer and snug up! Check occasionally for POM. Use a bolt with a metric head size if possible...mine came with a 1/2" head...errr! Dont even have a 13 in my track tool box I found...I do now! My guess is my inserts are SAE anyways.

Here is an example:

For any bolt/nut/etc there is you can figure out the proper torque.  All you need is the parameters like you posted above.  Just find a chart or a calculator and put it in your garage.

And here: http://www.auto-ware...f/lib_index.htm  -- that is an Online Racing Reference with tons of data like that.

I'd suggest hex head bolts instead of allen head / button head bolts.  Depending on how wide the seat is and how close the bolts are to other parts of the interior, it can be hard to get a socket on the head.  I had to buy a ratcheting crescent wrench in order to access the bolts to the seat.

Grade 8, and larger washers than you think.
