Regardless of whether you're pursuing the Majors route or the Divisional path, there are two parts to the process - a participation requirement and a performance requirement.
Majors Path participation:
You need to "turn a wheel" at three different Majors events (all of which are two-race weekends) AND you need to finish at least three of those six races. The three events do not need to be in the same conference - you can satisfy this requirement by running (for example) NOLA, Road Atlanta, and the June Sprints and be classified as a finisher at three of those six races.
- THEN -
Majors Path performance:
. Finish in the top ten in a conference - while it's possible to do that with only one weekend it's highly unlikely in a highly competitive class like SM. i.e. - you'll have to run multiple Majors weekends in the same conference.
- or -
. Finish in the top 50% of the class nationwide in 2014. This option counts all Majors events regardless of conference, but you won't know what the magic number is until late in the season.
- or -
. Earn enough points to have finished in the top 50% nationwide in 2013. This option also counts all Majors events regardless of conference, but you know the number. For SM that number is ten (10) points.

The performance aspect of the Divisional path differs from division to division, but the participation requirement is constant across all divisions - you must "turn a wheel" in at least four (4) Divisional Qualifying weekends. Some divisions are allowing all regionals to count as Qualifiers while others have specific events, so you really need to pay attention to those plans. They can be found at:

Obviously my primary focus is the Majors program but I can also help you understand the Divisional paths as well. If you have specific questions about either path post them here and I'll do my best to explain your options.
See y'all at the track...

Butch...In the case of the entry list being oversubscribed come sign-up time...What is the pecking order? First come first serve? Major path first? Who will be on the bubble??

I got an e-mail from Drago last night and apparently there's confusion about how to qualify for a Runoffs invitation in 2014. We TRIED to make it easy to understand with the following diagram (but obviously were unsuccessful):

So, finishing 3 Majors races at different tracks and accumulating 10 points (from any races) would qualify you for the 2014 Runoffs?

Even if the top ten in every conference attends we're talking 40 cars, then the top five from nine divisions adds another 45 more but we KNOW all those people will not make the trip. Those pursuing the Majors and the Divisional path have equal priority, then the "top 50% in NorPac or SoPac" will kick in.
Given that the GCR allows 56 cars to start at MRLS (with overage allowed by the Chief Steward) I really don't expect to reach that with the Majors + Divisional qualifiers. If we do, however, we'll adjust the schedule (A & B Main, maybe?) to give everyone a fair shot.

Not exactly - finishing three races at only two Majors weekends would NOT qualify you for the Runoffs. You need to participate ("turn a wheel") at three Majors weekends and finish three of those six races - and score ten points. For some conferences you won't be able to score ten points just by showing up.

That's what I meant...cool. Still a long tow to Cali, though.
Thanks.

Apologies for reviving an older thread ...
What is probably the easiest path to a 2015 Runoffs invitation?
I'm a mid-pack, low-buck racer in the SEDiv, so it might not be possible, but I figure 2015 is about the best chance I'll ever have to attend since it's so close.
Thanks.

Sorry, tried to post a release that I sent all SEDiv drivers, but it did not make it. If you would like to see a copy of it, email me at jcreig53@mindspring.com and I will send you the release. I will also get it posted on SEDiv website at www.sediracing.org
