Does anyone have any experience with turing a Miata into a RallyCross car -- lifting it up on the suspension for more ground clearance? I have a 92 SM that I am not racing. I thought it might be a kick ass Rally Cross car.

Randy Zimmer (a rally driver) built a rotary-powered Miata rally cross car a few years back. It seemed to do OK. I'm not sure what he had for a suspension and how much ground clearance he had.
I drove a stock Miata like a nut on a dirt lot a few years ago. It was great fun. The car was very easy to drive on dirt.
I'd think the only things you'd need are a bit more ground clearance, softer suspension, underbody protection, and snow tires mounted on steelies. Remove the lip soiler, it'll get torn off quickly.
The Florida International Rally & Motorsports Park (The FIRM) Rally school in Stark, Florida has a few Miatas in their inventory. They might help.
Rally is fun!

We have a "crew" car. It was a wrecked SM the straightened with two trucks...(it now actually aligns better than some of our regular cars..) WE have run it in Lemons, Rally and Drift events..
They just wound the collars way up and ran the car...I think they won a trophy.

Not only is it rotary powered but also mid-engined with a hewland transaxle. Fiberglass body panels also. Nothing like it anywhere. I think the car is for sale now.
I ran Pro Rally back in the 80's, when SCCA was the sanctioning body. I thought it might be fun to do the rally cross deal.

Cool. What did you drive?
BTW, what America needs is a tarmac rally (rally on pavement) similar to Targa Newfoundland (http://www.targanewf...m/index.php/en/)
