From my recent threads I know that most people thought I was off my rocker.

Now, I AM SURE EVERYIONE THINKS I AM IN LA LA Land.

I CERTAINLY WOULD IF I WERE IN YOUR SHOES!!!!!!

This is not the case. In a capsule I have $80,000 in capital in my business to make it work.  Thus, I do no need any sponsors.  I am going all in.  I am 63 years old and this is my last chance to do something that I never thought could happen until 10 days ago. At time I started sending emails to Tom Campbell, Director of Racing for the SCCA and there were at least 5 of them.  Tom and I flying to Topeka so he can give me information that I will forward onto my partner, as at this time I am not sure if he can join us.  The reason will become obvious later in this email

No I am not manic.  I am well-grounded and have been extremely calm in composing this thread, which has taken me a lot longer than I thought it would.

SO THERE!!  I am going all in on this one true and exciting venture. I am not bragging, just stating the facts for what I would assume everyone would have doubted and thought I was in LA LA Land.  And I am not my any means.  At the time of my wife’s retirement, I hope we will have enough investments to see us through our lives.  And I may have to die sooner than later.

However, I have not told my wife about this as she just returned from a 3 ½ business trip overseas.  And it really wears one out flying that much.

I have chosen Chris Klien to be my partner in the business and be the lead driver.  PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT CHRIS.  Chris has been busy get the nursery set up and it is possible that this time his wife is giving birth to their child.  It has taken Chris 3 days to answer my emails in a very cryptic fashion like.

YES ALL OF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHO MIGHT BE SELECTED AS THE SECOND DRIVER.  The answer is WE DO NOT KNOW and Chris has NOT HAD ANY TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT AND HE WILL MAKE THE DECISION.

I have sent Chris 6 mails from Thursday thru last night.  Chris has only answered 1 of 6 emails.I sent him.

“This sounds pretty cool!! - going through a bunch of crap to get the baby room ready... found an SCCA envelope unopened and a lap recorded certificate July 5, 2008 Established a new track record of 1.27.349 in the 1.940 mile track... I didn't even know I did that till today!!!  or I forgot”

 cjk

SO PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT CHRIS DIRECTLY. If you really want to, ONLY send him a letter through the mail.

There is another very important reason for using all my business capital to build the team.  Five months ago I started a business as a reseller of high-performance parts.  This ranges from eight types of coilovers that I sell for between $800 to $4,000 and the Ohlins are right in the middle of that group.  I know that s SPEC Miata is required to use OEM parts, except for brake pads and lines, etc.  This IS NOT AN ADVERTISMENT, but to demonstrate my credibility.

To further demonstrate this, I want all of you to know that I have been approved as a dealer for SPARCO by the Northwest Master Distributor for SPARCO.  If on the off chance you are interested in buying anything from me, our web site is in development and I cannot take credit cards at this time.  However, if you are interested in buying something from us, so just contact us and we will forward your request onto my distributor who will give you our discount, which at this time is 50% of the discount we get.  NO, I will not ADVERTISE the discount we provide.

I have place two ads in the Loud Pedal that cost a total of $600.  For that $600, I have NOT GOTTEN ONE email or phone call

If you are old enough to have seen and remember the most memorable scenes from the movie Network, I got in the same manic state as the TV anchorman.  In one scene he opened the window of his apartment that was on the four story of an apartment located in NYC.  He stuck his head out the window and yelled, I AM MAD AS HELL AND I NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE.”  I loved that scene.

So 10 days ago, that is what I was thinking.  I have never failed at most anything I have taken on.  So heck with those that doubt me and my business, I am going to invest $80,000 to hopefully make someone wake up and smell the roses, meaning they can get true discounts off MSRPs.  And I am not selling equipment that the manufactures and vendors cannot sell.

And if this does not work I will not care, as I am going to have the best time of my life.  If this happens the OR SCCA will be hurt by losing at least $6,000 in ADVERTISING revenue, which they otherwise would have received, if only people believed in me and my business.

As the world turns.

So with all of that said, I have three questions for you:

  1. Will a 2014 Miata be able to compete in the 2015 MX-5 Cup?  I have already exchanged a number of emails with Tom Campbell, Director of Racing for the SCCA.  I know that Tom can answer this question.  However, he lives in NY and on the road a lot.  So if any of you KNOW the answer to this question, I will either spend the day tomorrow putting in order for the two cars tomorrow or wait to go until I can place the order.

Another QUESTION I HAVE is:    What is the approximate time it takes to get a stripped down Miata from Japan.I have already checked with 4 Mazda dealers and they cannot order them. Thus, I most likely have to go-direct to Mazda in their racing division in CA.And that will definitely take some time as they would probably think it is a big joke.

So, I imagine what everyone is saying or thinking is, “WHAT IS THE FRICKEN HURRY.

These are the following reasons:

  1. I want to get the cars ASAP to so Chris can sort them out at The Ridge, which is 20 miles from my office.  Thus, I can store the trailer with the two cars five miles away.

  1. Lincoln Mercury & Mazda have committed to sponsor use for the remaining of the year.  If Chris wants to use these cars to compete in the OR Spec Miata series, I suspect the SCCA will have to give Chris a waiver to compete in any of the remaining races AND Chris would no longer be a contender for the championship. The decision is up to Chris as he has a good opportunity to win the championship

The sponsorship money we will receive is based upon our advertising for the dealership on our web site that is in development stage.  I can hear all of you saying or thinking, “ho hum – just another plain web site.”  That is absolutely not the case.  I have engaged a graphic artist that contracts will all of the Hollywood studios for their graphic films.  No it is no porn, it is a graphic representation of real life. In a full length graphic film it takes over 40,000 frames to fill the time for the movie.  (All of these graphic artist suffer from carpel tunnel syndrome.) So I am going to haves ketches of all the Japanese and Korean that we sell products for and the BMWs, Audis, MB and other European models including the Lamborghini, yes Lamborghinis.  Operators are standing by to take your orders. The US car lines will be addressed in 2015 and I have special, but secret, idea in that area.

Hey people, “Just think outside the box,    except on the track!”

Mike,

Your are exactly the person I wanted to hear from. Thanks for coming to my rescue.  I thought my numbers are dated, as they came 5 years ago from the supposed value of the prize Mazda gave the champion of their run-off that year.  But I used the average inflation factor over this 5 year period and came in exactly at $80,000

It sounds if Mazda has pushed their prices up, but their sales of Miatas keep declining.  Who knows how long the Miata will be around.  But it has been a good 25 years for the car.

The thing we need to deal with is the timing of getting the cars build and tested.  I have Doug Chase who owns Chase Race, which is a race shop.  Doug used to have a Spec-Miata Arrive and Drive program so he is real familiar with these cars.

Link to his web site www.chaserace.com

Now that I know that we have an option, Chris is the person you need to communicate with on this.  However, he is real tied up at this time.  When he has time, I will pass on your information to him.

My email address is p.hutt@NW-MotorsportGrp.com

In regards to find a prize car, one month ago I found a 93 Miata with 100,000 mile that for except not having a cage is a race prepared car with a blower that produces 260whp. So he had about $24,000 into it.  I HAD to pay $6,500.  Oh did that hurt.

Oh I guess I was wrong that the SCCA has something to do with the MX-5 Cup.  So I guess this guy should tell the SCCA's Director of Racing that it Sure would be a WASTE OF HIS TIME to fly from NY to come to Topeka!!!

Thanks again for the info you gave me.

Thanks Ron.  Even as good as Chris and how much more money I can throw into cars.  I do not believe there is a way we could ever get close to JD's team.  Oh, on the finance front, I have a new 1- car race prepared car hauler.  So I will have to trade it in to the dealer  that sold it to me for a for a 2-car trailer and he will be happy as he goes to the bank.  Got my eyes on a new Dodge Ram 3500 with Cummings diesel and am negotiating real hard with 4 dealers.  Once I get that I am going to look for a camper trailer that has the ceiling that folds down.  I like pancakes in the am and steak in the pm.  And I hate that road food and I think there can be road kill in that stew.

Well from Mike's post I felt that I should demonstrate that I am not an idiot when it came to doing things the best and least expensive way.  I was in commercial banking for 25 years and saw a lot of waste, which a lot of banks financed.  As the World Turns.

I hope Paul is for real, but I feel like we have met our gecko45.

Also Paul, Tom Campel is the director of SCCA pro racing.  There are other folks who are in charge of MX-5 who may be a bit faster/focused in helping you get a two car team into the series.

With all due respect Paul, and as a Northwest guy, these many ramblings are just plain difficult to read. I would suggest you just do your thing off the grid, so to speak, as little here is of relevance to the SM scene. That is all I will say at this time.

I couldn't agree more. .These ramblings give you zero credibility, maybe worse. More importantly, if you goal is start a race team, I can't see anyone who has read any of these posts ever signing on with you because your posts come off as rants of a madman. You all were too slow.  I signed on this afternoon.  Me and my family will be moving to the great northwest to become part of the greatest MX-5 Cup team that every was.  We are taking Collins advice and starting with fresh 2014 tubs.  The builds will be ready for the Laguna Seca race.  Even though we missed the first event we plan on winning out the remainder of the series with one car while the other car will be the designated goon that happens to be involved with in an accident with the points leading car until we are on top.   We have decided to go with the Chevy Power as the LS is the best platform for racing engine.  We have already signed an endorsement deal with Kuhmo and plan on dominating every weekend with the best rubber made in America.  My 13 year daughter will be taking over the driving duties for me next year, i plan on entering her in a few SM races this year to get her up to speed, i figure with our latest SM build making about 152 to the rear wheels she should be able to show those boys in the southwest division a thing or two.  Her first race will be at TMS in August and by September she will have swept her first three races finishing on the full oval at TWS. Once we have dominated on the pro level for couple of months, we might just take a swing at a little series like the FIA GT3 or maybe even dabble in Formula 1 in 2016.  It all depends on how soon Mr. Hutt can get his business venture off the ground, as I understand at the F1 level it is more about good sponsorship than skills.

Sorry you folks missed out on this opportunity, it appears you are all too jaded to know a good thing when you see one.
