Looking at buying a car to run in SM5 or ITS. The candidate I have found in my price range has close to 80 race hours on the engine but has been well maintained by a pro shop.  Is this engine probably done, past it's useful life?  I know I will need to install a sealed engine to run SM5, but would like to use the current one in ITS for the 1st season with the car.

Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Done no, but that's a season-ish of time on it so it may have lost it's edge a bit. Best way to tell an engine's health is compression/leakdown testing.

I ran one for three seasons before we replaced it.

Bottom line...

The engine is very likely fine but at 80 race hours, will not be a podium car.
