Western Michigan Region is hosting the "Original Unrestricted" Double Regional at Grattan Raceway on June 28th and 29th. Its a GLDiv Divisional champ Series event (both races count) in our usual three race format. Qual session Saturday morning, race 1 Saturday afternoon, qual race Sunday morning and race 2 Sunday afternoon.

A lot of good reasons to come out:
-It's a part of the GLDiv Divisional Champ Series and, as such, is a qualifier for the Runoffs.
-If you haven't raced here before, its an awesome race track that is very technically challenging.
-The track was repaved a couple of years ago and is VERY smooth.
-The bathrooms, showers and concession stand kitchen have been remodeled/upgraded for this season.
-It'll be a great tune up for the Majors event to be held at Grattan in August.
-We have, BY FAR, the best track dinner Saturday night and that's included in the entry fee.

So come out, have some fun and get in a lot of time on a GREAT race track.

Registration is open for the event at http://wmr-scca.motorsportreg.com/. Please contact me (hdf3.wtr80@gmail.com) if you have any questions, etc. about the event.

C'mon folks.....we're just under the break even point....we need some more cars.  It looks like the light entry list allows us to ADD A SESSION on Saturday and for all of us to get an early start home on Sunday. So we're adding 20 minutes of track time to the event.  The weather looks great (low 80s and low chance of rain).....so whatcha waiting for?  Lock and load folks.  Regional racing needs your support.

Go to  wmr-scca.motorsportreg.com to enter or email me (hdf3.wtr80@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

Due to low car count, WMR has decided to juggle the classes into different run groups.  Moving from six to four groups will free up enough time to add a 20 session on Saturday.  The revised schedule and run groups can be found below (pardon the formatting) as well as on MSR.

Registration is open until midnight ET tonight.  So it's not too late to sign up.  Email me (hdf3.wtr80@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

This was a great event. Thanks SCCA WMR for putting it together. SM entries were strong for a regional event in this area with 17 cars entered. The track was busy with SRF in our run group also. They seemed to get in between us often.

Congratulations to Mike Novak for his win on Sunday and a new track record. Mike ran a super fast 1:29.5 today while getting a tow from a SRF and Seth Rowley and myself chasing him close. Seth was very strong both days, finishing 2nd twice.  We were the top three on Saturday and Sunday, as I joined them in impound in both days. The three of us battled very close, swapping positions often, but running very clean, nobody got punted and lost a position, we never touched at all on Sunday - the way it should be. We finished within a second of each other both days.

PLUS - The new restrooms are a huge improvement:  there are working lights, and now I can use the stalls without my knees touching the door ( and I am 5' 6").

Dale and WMR did a great job. And I will echo what David said. One note back to WMR, don't rely on the PA system to get information out to the racers. The system is not that good and a lot of people did not get the information broadcasted over the speakers.

Tech checked weights and plates for the top 3 in SM and everyone was found compliant. Some very close racing by all.

Grattan has to be the most fun track to drive in the country. I hope when we go back later this sumer that more people come and enjoy what this little track has to offer. If you have never driven Grattan you owe it to yourself to come out and give it a try.

Ralph and Dave are correct great track! First time there and can't wait to go back. Dale and company did a nice job but as Ralph said the PA system was horrible, other than that real good racing.

Ralph and Dave are correct great track!

YES, been there a couple time. Missed a shift out of the toilet bowl, got a Mellen and deserved it. (kidding)

Sorry to hear of the car count at Grattan, Blackhawk Farm had a sick car count. Seems from the stuff posted on this site and on the prod site Huston has a real large issue. Something like 60 cars, Wheeler? I'm going to find time to send the Lady a letter. When regional/divisonal race car counts suck those in Topeka with all the answers need to get off center.

WMR had another great event. Weather and loud speakers didnt even take it down.

Car count was fair but I think there is a bigger problem across the board as all of the races Majors and the rest are showing lower car counts. NASA and the Chump car activities I think are part, but it is a guess at best. I feel tires are the next-- as many will not buy for the other series that they don't normally race.

Racing was great. Little to zero touching and you could have blinked and missed groupings of three plus cars in SM fighting for positions. Dave, Seth and I swapped leads many times, with Dave pulling off the win on Sat and me on Sun.
