He called me back. Apparently he doesn't get many direct orders for these and they had to be made. They are supposed to ship early next week. He indicated there are just two dealers who ever buy them from him but didn't say who they are. Bottom line, allow some lead time and don't wait long to check back with him.

This is VERY good advice... We have had 4-5 drivers routinely under tent the last 5 years or so, all with identical equipment. Three have gone through transmissions at a rate of at least two per season. The other two have never "lost' a trans in the last 5 years. Transmission failures are 95% driver related IMHO. With the drivers having the issues.. sprung clutches offered no relief either.

This is a very true statement. One method to tach a ham fisted shifter is to remove the shift ball from the stick. He will very quickly learn not to break gear boxes.

As an example, Voytek used to go through a trans every weekend. I finally removed the shift ball and made him drive a weekend without it. No broken trans's since.

Even a stubburn old polock can be taught!!!!

Hey all,

I just ordered a exedy pressure plate as I thought it was the same as the mazda factory(daikin). Exedy is daikin brand and I could have swore that I saw exedy numbers on this last daiking but that was a long time ago.  I was thinking that the 1.6 daikin pressure plate was in the mid 6lb range but couldn't remember. Well I measured the new Exedy I just got and its 7.9 lbs. Has anyone weighed a factory pressure plate in awhile? I remember there were different Mazda options awhile back(value etc).

Nope. Looks like the SM legal ACT Pressure Plate weighs, 8.1 lbs.
