What a terrible story! Very sad! They are an SCCA family and the SCCA sticker on the cart makes this tragedy a little closer to all of us. I dont know the family personally and can't even imagine. Godspeed to her.  Her family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Chris H and I talked about it this morning, both having girls that are almost 14 and have driven karts, it hit home very hard.

My son raced his cart in JB this weekend with the WDCR-SCCA Solo folks and this is certainly very close to home.  Very sad!

My daughter's were driving their 1/4 midget this week, so way to close to home. PRAYERS and best wishes to the family, and I hope we learn something from this to help.prevent it in the future.

I have a 14 year old Grand daughter that has been racing karts for 6 years now.  Can't imagine how sad that the family must be.  Tragic.  Sounds like a stuck throttle.

I can't begin to imagine how hard this is for the family. My prayers are with them.

This one hit very close to home. Kierstin was a student at my daughters school (same grade) and they were in summer class together this month. An emotional couple of days here with some deep conversations. The kids at the school have been very active on social media as they deal with this and its clear that Kierstin was an awesome, awesome kid.
