Registering for the Thompson double Pro-IT the end of August but I wanted to get opinions on the track and any pointers in getting around it quickly.

 

Good/bad/ugly/indifferent?

Very very very very tight track. Did I mention it was tight? Two second gear corners. Turn three is a early apex which will seem contrary to visual impression. Smooth line through the kink will carry a little more speed and flat at last right hander before front straight. Hope this helps.

it sucks plain and simple.  the track management still has a circle track mentality and if you go off you will mess up the car big time.  the water filled barriers they use are like hitting concrete.  they do a great job of protecting the armco and mashing up cars.

 

we were there in june and July and doubt we will ever come back.

x2. Getting in the dirt virtually anywhere will cost you. If you happen to lose brakes at T1 it could be fatal.

It's a tight track. It's gotten better as curbing has been added, but they still need more.

Have never met Paul, my bet is there's no pinky in that right hand glove. Coming from a guy that constantly shows the number 1 digy on his left gloved hand. Same deal when holding the pone with the left hand, anyone looking gets the finger. There's always a story of some sort behind steering wheel fingers.

The track wanted the road course users to stay off the banking. The wall is solid concrete, and they were worried about impacts.

 

That said, BMW was there one weekend using the higher banking and said it wasn't any faster than staying low.

Jeff,

Curious about turns 1 & 3 - you're taking them in 3rd but I saw in Paul's video he's in 2nd.  Is that probably due to the suspension & tires you have on your ITA car vs. our SM spec?

Looks like he's in 2nd. The blue shift knob shows the gear.

Turn 1 I usually do in 2nd, though I've tried it in 3rd.

 

Turn 3 is always 3rd gear for me unless I'm stuck in traffic.

 

I've got the 4.3 diff, so same gearing as a SM.

And if anyone's interested, there are currently only 3 SMs entered!
