Hey Danny, I know you were not racing in the SIC and I heard Major Tom sputtering on the rev limiter all the way past S/F ... jus sayin too!

Others though ... some ECU's are more "bone stock" than others :scratchchin:

No worries, Daytona next year will be a mega drama, America's true dyno, only track in the country where SM's run past the rev limiter in 5th ...

tall gears, cartography, CR, plus many many more fun stuff will be in play ... leave the Whistler at home, bring your checkbook, gonna be fun ...

Guest...bring your radar gun next time so you can get speeds on those not finding the limits of their ecu...then you'll have some ammo to fight with if in fact those speeds are above the math!

Ahhh...just had a thought...speed trap 2 sec before the brake zone...posted after every session!

Interesting idea, Tech outside of tech, on the track.

How about just collect their data??

At NASA Champs East, NASA installed their own data collectors in our cars to ensure there were no anomalies - this seems like a good way to detect cars running faster than their ECU's should allow. Speed traps will also work

With all the '99's under the OPM tent we have switched out a lot of ECU's and found around 100 RPM variance between rev limiters , but nothing more than that. Have not played around with the VVT car ECU's yet, but I would expect a similar variation, but I could be wrong.

The .010 over cars are 11.5cc (.7 ci) larger and will need a different limit if the Whistler becomes the new standard.

I wonder if tech was using one ci larger setting on the Whistler when checking the .010 cars? If not they are even higher in compression than the Whistler would show and the difference is likely 2 hp.

The data collected was what? Question asked because during approx 2010 NASA was track testing several different GPS based black boxs with capability to collect unknown to me data.

They have been using little trackmate units with their own battery packs. So I'm sure the data is limited to GPS and accelerometer based data.

As soon as the whistler becomes the absolute you are inviting oversize pistons/bores along with offset line bores.... Will the uniformed please stop jumping on the bandwagon!

I understand we have an issue we need to deal with. Please let those that know what the F they are doing figure it out.... the whistler bandwagon is a little full at the moment and using that as an absolute IS A HUGE MISTAKE.....!!!!!

To say whistler is the new standard when the top 5 or 6 had illegal engines completetly designed to pass Whistle with the VC on, from multiable engine builders...

I'd say the horse has already left the barn long ago.

I get it, maybe more of a East Coast NASCAR thing, but competeing on track and in tech, against everything.

Like the NASCAR guy that made 7/8th scale of his car to win. Rusty ??  Just doing what it takes. :)

Maybe Jim C needs to step up his game.

The HORSE HAS NOT LEFT THE BARN. The horses have been found and are being brought back to the barn. Those that are still loose are being roped in as we speak. The spec has NOT changed.

True Danny, just in this case. The Spec is what it is. CC still stands.

Just whistle seems/is better than nothing now and appears more accurate now w/o the VC and less work than CC, more doable in tech.

Tech needs to be on their game, drivers shouldn't be expecting only X in tech and beating it.

But that's the challenge and the game will continue.

I have to go, I'll be back later, have a great weekend.
