About Race 4:

Brandon, sorry about the premature fight ending in Turn 11. I hope you managed to go around me with no drama.

My engine started going funny so I had to stop. Wasn't totally sure what was going on...

I meant to come find you after the race and then I forgot. Anyhow..

Looking under the hood in the paddock, I was missing a couple zip-ties to hold the plug wires on the Coil Packs, the engine was firing only on 2 cylinders :-(

It's something that I could have avoided if I had put them back on after changing my valve covers a few weeks ago. Argh!

I meant to come find you after, too, but most people were gone by the time I made it back to the Miata Corral. When I heard your engine on track I was bummed for you, worried it might be something bad. I was glad to hear from someone after that it was just disconnected wires and no damage.

Wow, haven't posted on here in a looooong time! I had a great time on Sunday. Thanks for letting me play, guys :)

Not sure if Nick is on the forum or not, but he should definitely use that video as a piece of guidance for his future racing career (and seeing as he's pretty damn good for his age, I look forward to seeing him around). Had he come back on like that in an SCCA event, surely someone would have ended up in the hospital. Even if you can't slow down very much in those few seconds off track, you should be able to slow down enough to at least turn slightly and come back on track parallel to the apex/track out. Hell, even if you have to throw yourself sideways, or if braking puts you into a slide (and I saw no brake lights in the video), at least the friction should slow you down enough to avoid a major collision. Ask me how I know... Point is, that wasn't a place to even think about holding a position--especially had there been 40 cars coming up to turn one and not 5.

Live and learn!

I thought Nick was fast but a bit aggressive with passes at NCRC in the last Sunday race.  If you watch Todd's video you will see I was on the brakes for a long time watched Nick keep his foot planted and enter in an unsafe manner,  had others not given him room there would have been a wreck as Kyle noted.  Also given this was NCRC I saw a few passes that required the other driver to make room to avoid contact for some of Nick's passes.  I usually take it back a notch at NCRC and look to be along side before turn in and make clean passes.  Nick is fast and would have likely caught up even with a little more caution.   That aggression is at home with NASA and SCCA.
