That is good to hear. I live in a pretty rural area and don't plan on driving it around like a lunatic so I should be able to keep the peace. Thanks for the replies.

Anytime the vin # is removed, be careful. Salvage cars have valid vins in place and the vin is supposed to go in the logbook.
Titles not needed, vin needed.

Full disclosure: SMAC chairman, my opinions do not reflect anything to do with the SMAC unless specifically stated.

I'm in the habit if having mine titled. Crossing into Canada for Mosport requires it. Well, requires it if you want to bring the car back.
If it has a vin, it can e titled even if that title is salvaged (in most states).

When I bought my SM I was amazed that I did not get a title. After doing some research ( ie: asking at the track) I found it was common not to have a title. I got a bill of sale which I had to accept as proof of owner ship. A vehicle title however clearly proves ownership and it is required in many states even for non- highway use. I came to the conclusion that because obtaining a title generally costs something such as a title fee and probably sales tax that many racers omit this since they believe that its unnecessary. The correct way to go would be to obtain title and not register the car for highway use. (That may vary from state to state) Clearly if you want to drive the car to the track and forgo investing in a tow vehicle and trailer, not having a title is a problem. If there is ever an issue with liability or dealing with an erroneous claim that the vehicle is stolen, I think not having a title would also make dealing with those situations more difficult.
Hope this helps
