I'm having a heck of a time bleeding my front brakes ('99).  The nipples seem to be cranked into the caliper too far, so when the wrench is on the nut, there's barely enough space for the bleeder hose to find purchase (and it easily falls off if looked at cross-eyed).  The rears are fine, but my fronts seem to have abnormally short nipples.

Is this normal? Perhaps there is there more than one part number (and previous owner used the too-short ones?)

there are different ones.  I ordered some replacements from Mazdaspeed and they are longer variety.

But honestly just get a tighter hose it works fine.
