It happens all the time: you have a mechanical problem with your car or damage from an on-track incident that's keeping you from going out, and you don't have the know-how or resources to deal with it. Do you pack up and go home?

No, because your fellow SM racers always pitch in with parts, advice, or help getting you going again. We've all been there, possibly on both sides of the equation, and it happens so frequently that we tend to forget how amazing that is.

So this is a shout-out to all the guys who helped me overcome a pesky intermittent stalling issue last weekend at Thunderhill, and in the months before that: Ron Alan, John Dirkson, Al Angulo, Aaron Braverman, Richard Lucquet, David Gehringer, Brandon Miller, Jaime Florence, and Todd Tagget (sorry if I'm forgetting others). And especially Mark Means, who worked right up to the very beginning of a qualifying session successfully diagnosing the issue (erratic coil pack connector) and got me back on track for qualifying and two more races that day. You guys are awesome, and I suspect a big reason why we race SM.

I'm not the electrical guy but thanks.

I'm not sure if you remember us helping Matt at Sonoma with him switching his diff to a torson.

He had, No funnel/pump, no fluid, no axle nuts, no sockets.

We got it all done, it happens.

Funny how we suspected what it was way back...or at least the culprit area! After seeing this type of thing time and time again...I'm convinced that 80% of the time, it is not the device(cam sensor, afm, coil, whatever)but always the female side of the plug. The part we have grabbed onto and pulled on and off 50 times! Glad Mark was the smart one to touch that when it was running!

Yep ^

My diff exploded before a Saturday race and half the SM field helped me do a Torsen swap to get me racing on Sunday. My Dad and I don't have the resources right now for a trailer or tow vehicle. We are hugely limited by a lack of tools, spare parts, and knowledge. If it weren't for the supportive atmosphere in SM, I would be a nervous wreck having to drive the car to and from the track. Instead, I can drive the balls off the car with the comfort of having selfless friends that will help me out if I run into trouble.

Huge thanks to everyone in NASA Norcal. I look forward to every event not just to go racing, but also to hang out with awesome guys that thrive around the same passion.  :toast:

Hi Greg

Glad we got you racing...!

I'll echo the shout-out to Mark Means (our chief mechanic for the 25H this past few years).

Earlier this season, he helped me tap a new core plug in my block after I lost one following my engine rebuild! Yeah, I know,... Don't ask  :(

And let's not forget chasing an alternator and a belt (Thanks Team Nitro!) to get Todd racing on Saturday... That's all before he decided to kill another engine on Sunday.

Seriously Todd, WTF :-)

It was a great Weekend! Maybe a little too adventurous on the track during the last race for some.
