Ross, I think you underestimate our clout.

If all SM racers stopped racing as of today, they would need to increase everyone elses entry by at least 60% to account for our absence.

That is assuming we all woudl actually pull the needle out of our arms and go to detox programs immediatly.  We cant even get 50% here to agree on any one thing it doesnt seem.

It would hurt both NASA and SCCA although it would hurt SCCA for more as they dont make their bread and butter from HPDE

the only other class most of us would like would suck to get into right now as engines are not available tll 2016 unless you want someones old junk. makes it less likely any of would go there.

They don't fear us organizing. We will just whine and go back to sending them our money. Why fear us, we can't even agree on what cars need help.

Blah blah, look how bad the rules are judging by the times at Road Atlanta right now. Amazing how close the cars are when they're legal. Gross over reaction incoming, spit it out so I can finish my new 99 in time for January

If you're referring the the latest SMAC discussions bout parity... I can pretty much say their ideas and discussion was made obsolete by our meeting in Topeka yesterday.

I'm not at liberty to fully reply to your comments right now except there will be changes, weight and plates will part of the solution too (for parity).  No concrete details were discussed yesterday, mainly a direction to maintain the longterm health of the class with compliance measures.  Parity will be next.

This first sentence can not be overlooked for those trying to figure out the direction things will go! I'm actually surprised it stayed up today.

I've said before and still feel the same...Mazda is driving the bus while SCCA is in the back serving drinks to Jerry.

They have decided the class direction(Their brand and support)while the 2 organizations will figure out parity(with Mazda input)for the new class or classes??

I'm glad the HEALTH comment was made because that would seem to eliminate one possible hurdle down the road with respect to inventory :noidea:

I'm looking forward to the announcments and will embrace any change. Even if in the short term it hurts my own personal agenda/situation...but lets hope not

tell me about it.......  people are on the fence with projects just about to begin without knowing which way to go.  our engine builders are sitting on their hands waiting while cores have already been sent out.

Yea, it's not like any of them brought this on themselves. 😏

To those not exceeding the rules without the knowledge of your customers, you too are victims so you get some sympathy. Complain to your peers while the mess they made is sorted out.

But most of my sympathies lie with the racers, those who unwittingly own equipment that won't pass a solid tech, and maybe even more so, those who don't.

Ron, with the exception of the 2nd paragraph this is a good post.  But I will say, from my vantage point I don't see Mazda driving or dictating the discussion at all.  Mazda have been acting as facilitator by getting what seems to be objective folks in the room to make some tough calls.

I'm hearing it may be awhile yet and we may not learn anything until after the CRB meeting next week. If anyone can confirm that at least we could all reset our anticipation levels.

I have no knowledge of whats going on, but from this, my impression is it's not in the next couple days.

I'm all for measure twice, cut once, as stated "this isn't easy'

Some assumptions, 99 and 01 will only be weights and plate, no engine changes.

1.6, 1.8 is/may be another story.

So again, assuming, they should come out with engine/head mods to get the "long term' things moving along and then follow up with Weights and plates secondary.

But I have no crystal ball, and people should be more patient.

Fair enough. I will certainly agree it is very wise for Mazda to give the perception they are simply looking out for their best interests and letting others shoulder the tough decisions. And know doubt about it...SM is at a crossroads for sure.

Sometimes rather than asking direct questions and hoping for an answer, indirect comments(good or bad) lead to the same result  :D

Thanks for throwing us all a little bone John!
