Hey guys, looking for a new suit and would like to hear some reviews on different brands/models; I am looking in the $600 region. I currently have a Sparco suit that is comfortable and fits great. I would get another one, but all the Sparco models are bland and boring compared to Alpinestars. Does anyone have any experience with entry level Alpinestars suits? Any other brands I am missing?

Also, my favorite designs are white suits... is that a disaster waiting to happen or is it possible to keep them clean?

I have five suits.. I have to tell you my favorite is still my old Gforce 545. the Sparco x light is next.  I have been waiting since last years PRI to order the new G Force 745.  It is the lightest  suit I have seen. It was supposed to be out least year and never came. They are promising Feb / March delivery now, when it finally comes out, I am ordering one from Saferacer.

I got an Aplinestars suit last year and it has been my favorite by far. I used a Simpson before and I felt my alpine was a lot lighter and breathed better. My good friend Aaron Quine ended up buying the same model suit for his Trans Am racing and loves it as well.

Well, I was like you when I bought mine: i.e. white... If I had to do it again, I would think twice...

You just have to remember to dress/undress only when you're ready to drive.

As I'm also the pit crew on my car, I've had instances where I needed to quickly go under the car or change wheels or whatever and you really don't want to have to do that in your shiny white suit!

My 2 cents anyway...

BTW, I have a great address in Mountain View for custom embroideries, he can get your name, your flag or whatever you want on your suit to make it "yours"... Very affordable and pretty cool!

I bought this same suit last year in black. Awesome.

I owned a previous gen Alpinestars SP but didn't like the lack of a lumbar stretch panel. I tried the Sparco SRZ but the "grey" stripes were lavender and the material was on par with my older SP. My newest suit is 3-layer and feels as light as my Dad's Sparco X-Light, though it doesn't have the nifty menthol liner.

You really can't go wrong with Alpine but I ended up with a Sparco last year because I got an older model for super cheap. For me, the Sparco suits fit my body shape a lot better than the G-Force or OMPs. I think they favor the slimmer driver as I am 6' and 160#.

Personally, I would NEVER get a white suit. My suit has a white chest and it's hard enough to keep that clean. They look super sharp when clean but it's so easy to make them look unprofessional.

I just ordered and used a Momo suite in that price range from Saferacer. I was very happy with the suit and even happier with the service by Saferacer. Plus received a 10% discount from them on the suit. The suit arrived in two days after ordering. It was one size too small. Sent back on an RA and had another suit within 5 days.

Im 5'8 and 170 pounds. As between Sparco, Alpinestars, Momo and OMP, which brand do you guys think is cut the best for shorter drivers?

Im 5'6 and 170lbs and my alpinestars fits really well. With the size I got, I roll up about 2 inches or less on my boot cuffs so I dont constantly step on the suit

There seems to be a paucity of resources reviewing driving gear. I'm starting a video series to address this issue. Here's the first episode. http://youtu.be/h8EL0l1Pzw4

I have 3 more suits on order to review: The Sparco Extrema, the Alpinstars Supertech, and the OPM One Evo.

Ron at Discovery Parts let me order all 3, shipped to the house. Just going to return the ones I don't want with no restocking fee.

If you find it informative or have constructive criticism let me know.

I am in AlpineStars GP with the carbonX liner.  By far the most comfortable and best breathing suit i am in.  For test weekends where i know i may be under the car i wear my old pyrotech one.
