My clutch switch stopped working shortly before heading to grid. there are 2 sets of wires going to the switch. In my haste to bypass it, i cut the 2 small wires. I realized my mistake, unplugged the 2 bigger wires, put in a jumper wire, and got it started. I haven't fixed the 2 small wires yet (cut them pretty close to the connector) do I need to fix them, and if so. Do i need to replace the clutch switch too. I'd rather not get under the dash and buy a part if it isn't necessary.
What do the 2 small wires do? I've read post where people say they send a signal to the ecu. but why does the ecu need to know if your clutch is in or not and what changes does it make? I haven't noticed a difference in the idle and everything seems normal.
