I am new to all of this however I believe that I lost the main rod bearing on my 95 Miata.  I am looking at options right now.  Rebuild the current motor or look for a low mileage replacement.  I have found a 97 motor.  Now I know that the 97 is an obd2 and my 95 is obd1.  Can I put  the 97 motor in my car and if so what will I need to do?

This car is just and HPDE car not a spec miata.

Thanks in advance for the new guy question.

Block and head are the same...difference is in the bolt on parts. And I think it may just be the coilpack. Regardless, just bolt all of your stuff onto the long block and fire it up!

The biggest difference is the crank sensor. The OBD2 has one, the OBD1 does not. So, using the OBD2 motor in the early car is simply removing the bolt that holds the sensor on. The OBD 2 has a trigger wheel, but you can just leave it in place. The car won't know the difference.

Otherwise you are good to go
