Weather is looking pretty good now and with a fresh track surface it should be VERY fast.

Congrats Justin Hille! One helluva season so far!

Two more wins! Moved to front of national points chase.

Solid weekend for Mike Novak with two solid p 2 finishes

Johnathan Davis and Juan Marchand rounding off the podiums!

KWebb with solid 4&5 finishes!

From reports was no contact and a smooth event less one guy not allowed to qualify until he got logbook pictures, which ended up in him missing qualifying. If that is true, that is a disgrace and one of the reasons we are running people away from SCCA. I hope I got the story wrong

Always a great time at the track with the SM crowd.  Everybody raced with respect, and the weekend was completely drama-free.

Congrats to Novak, Davis, and Marchand on the podiums! I don't know that Marchand runs a SM very often, but has a big open-wheel background.  He picked it up really quickly driving his NA 1.8.  The front pack consisted of 3 '99's, 1 '01, and a NA 1.8.  (sorry no love for the 1.6, but I bet if Jonathan had brought his he would have been in the same position)  The cars seemed pretty close for the most part!

That may be the first and only instance I have ever seen of a car fixing itself :)

Nice drive, Justin.

I like camera angles that let you see action in the rear view mirror.

I noticed your gauges were pegged.  :-)

Justin lots of credit for staying with the car after the 1st lap.  Many of us may have pulled in at that point given how the car was running toward the end of that lap.  Great drive thereafter.  You had them all covered.............again.  You make it look easy and we all know it's anything but that to run up front.

Jim-you are partially correct, I think. The story I heard from a tech guy was that a racer did not have pictures in his logbook(as required) and was told to put pictures in his logbook 3 RACES AGO and a notation was made in his logbook 2 more times after the initial request. So, finally the tech folks made him do it.

We also had photo issues. We took cell phone pix, went to the track office and emailed/printed them and away we went. A little drama, but it worked. I have one guy checking every car in the shop for logbook pix today.

I told someone i would have borrowed a friends smart phone and taken a picture with my phone and the friends phone and duct taped the "pictures" in the log book. it might be a little thicker than normal :)

My view from Mid pack on Sunday. Qualified p16, finished p11 I think. I wanted to teach Justin how to set the track record so I put some beer in his gas tank Saturday night so he could follow me around for a lap :)

I got frustrated at times with the feeling of a boat anchor attached haha. Some good battles with Jeff and I mowed the grass once! Best laptime of 1:45.9 for Sunday's race. Lots of fun this past weekend.

Hi  I am new here!!   racing Spec Miata is such a buzz.  This was probably one of my best weekends in memory,  the car was hooked, the track is right and the drivers and teams are very good.   I haven't been around miatas for long and just been prepping SM for the last two seasons.  My first and only SM race was last year in a 1.6 with no setup, it was a handful with 2 degrees upfront, I never thought I drive SM again until my customer offered for me to drive his NA2 car for the Gingerman Major, on july 5th I did a total of 5 laps on 9 cycle tires and went 1:45.6, at that point I went home knowing I wanted to race miatas for a long time to come.

Provitz has been influential in many ways, very helpful and has eased some info i never saw in Wheeler's 1st edition,  hope that 2nd edition comes out soon,  all the freebie-newbie consultation is most probably over with.

Justin has been coming around GingerMan quite a bit and I've been watching him, listening to his car go around etc etc,  he is top flight stuff, I really hope Mazda scoops him up this year, if not next.  It was tough racing Novak/ Davis and Webb helped me at both race starts(with a slight push) because my car's second gear synchro hub seized since the qualifying session,  yes I drove both races with no second gear available...  after the sunday race it barely goes into first.  Third gear did grind a few times during the races and slowing me a bit,  I never thought of quitting.  The car actually became stronger with a few laps to go when i saw Novak relaxing a little on the back section that when i did a 44.8,  I think a 43's is what will be happening for next year.  This is one race I'll never forget.  I figure the video must go online, and maybe I can get some comments on how to drive a miata better,  i'm definately a newbie.

                                                                                                                      Thanks                            Marchand, Juan R

https://youtu.be/bylOwbR7doA

ps.  My shop is inside gingerman and anyone is welcome to come by say hi, borrow tools/lift or use my dynojet, during operating hours, I'm also the Motorsports director at Gingerman and wiling to ease a deal for SM test days in the future.
