The South Jersey Region will be conducting a NJRRS championship series event at New Jersey Motorsports Park. This event is the Summer Thunder regional races on the Thunderbolt course on 15-16 August. The weekend will also feature the Fidelity Power Systems Pro IT Round 5.

A major new component has been added to this traditional mid summer weekend - the Saturday Night Special. This feature is a one hour race at the end of the day on Saturday for all closed wheel cars entered in the Summer Thunder regional and running on DOT tires. An Index of Performance has been established for all eligible cars and prizes will be awarded based on index. The best aspect of this feature race is that it takes a single Benjamin ($100) to enter.
