Opp's, ment to say a low pressure sensor will offer a quicker failure mode than temp gauge if water is lost. The new Windows 10 seems to have some holes, couldn't change previous post or maybe the poster lost pressure.

Oil pressure too.  Big bright idiot lights in the drivers primary field of view---yes, even if you have a guage.

I also like the stack pro-stepper guages (or any of the "pro" programmable color and setpoint guages).  The one time I lost oil pressure, the idiot light and the flashing red guage got my attenion in less than a second----confirmed by looking at video.

Well....

I talked to a shop owner who is very experienced in all aspects of Spec Miata, and he said, in his experience, it is unreliable to rebuild an engine that has gotten that hot, that has lost compression and won't run. In his words, "You killed it."

He said that he has tried it on several occasions, and the engines all failed within a few hundred miles (undetectable cracks, spun/broken rod bearings, rods, etc.)  I'd spend almost as much on the old engine as getting a new one would cost, and it still would be unreliable.

He recommended getting a "new" engine from MazdaSpeed, or Gilfus (personal friend of his), or East Street, or a few others.

Any engine guys want to spread the love and give me a good price on a long block?

Jim

EDIT:  Or, can anybody recommend a source for a good remanufactured engine?
