Anybody else had issues with the brake fluid cap gasket on the reservoir deteriorating/getting out of shape and not sealing well? Threw a new cap on there and within about a year it doesn't seal well anymore. Zip-tied a paper towel around the cap to catch some of the mess, but it still sloshed out a 1/2" of fluid.

Contaminated brake fluid. causes rubber to swell and deform.

And if it gets out then water (humidity) gets in, which is quickly absorbed and lowers the boiling point.

Wonder if the gasket material has changed or is just incompatible with Motul 600?

I have been using Motul 600 for a number of years and only had 1 cap failure (broken o-ring). I do blead a little more often than most, but I have not had the opportunity to race as much in the last 2-3 years so it does not sit quite awhile lately.

Motul 600 here for the past 5-6 years and nothing untoward with the rubber portions of my cap.

Curious - are you running the exhaust heat shield on your car?

Yeah, I've used Motul for a good while too, but used ATE prior to that. The original cap probably lasted about 10 yrs. This is probably the 3rd, maybe 4th cap now. The gasket just seems to loose shape and then no longer stays in place to seal correctly.

The heat shield is in place.

They've always been OEM caps.
