Your poll is flawed Jim. If you answer No to question 2 then you dont need to vote in 3...put it tells you you have to. Maybe you need a none of the above box for 3?

I suspect that the NASA East champs at Watkins Glen will draw several regular SCCA Runoffs contenders due to the nature of the two tracks, one with multiple passing opportunities and the other with just two, unless you consider bump and run as acceptable passing strategy!!! I know of several including myself that are doing the NASA event.

^ What he said, unless you don't really want input from SCCA Regional only racers who will do no end of season races.

Not the intent, not able to fix less starting over.. not interested in starting it over.

Planet Miata, will be bringing the fleet to the Nasa east coast championships this year.
While some of our customers wanted to do both, the NASA event makes more sense for us on multiple levels.
watkins glen is closer, track surface will be new in 2016 and NASA runs their championships better, period! I along with crew and drivers do not have to spend 10+ days for the SCCA runoffs ( travel, test, qualifying, race) only run one session per qualifying day and sit around for the rest of the time.
NASA announced over a month before SCCA decided to announce the Mid O dates and I find it funny that it just happened to fall on the same weekend. even if it was a coincidence, the optics don't look good. here was a chance for both events to feed off of each other. having one week apart would have allowed those racers and shops to attend both, especially those who would have very long tows. the tracks are 6 hours from each other.
like VIR and Road Atlanta the previous year, there was plenty of top flight competition to race against with NASA. at PRI this weekend, i heard numerous talks of top driver's and shops making the switch for 2016.....

NASA at the Glen. Qualifying is easier and I can run two classes on the same qualifying. I'm going to focus on the MX-5 Cup but I love racing at the Glen.

SCCA has had the date for three years, but announced actual date after NASA. Any way you look at it, IMO it is sad and both organizations could have done a far better job comparing notes. I realize all the difficulties in scheduling, but still believe this could have and should have been handled better. Both organizations will be losing entries not only during the championships, but during the year as well. Most importantly the drivers and members pay the price for the poor leadership here. At some point maybe the leaders of BOTH organizations will have to acknowledge the other exists and not doing so hurts not only the customer, but this year it will actually hurt each organization this year and the quality of both races.NASA announced over a month before SCCA decided to announce the Mid O dates and I find it funny that it just happened to fall on the same weekend. The tracks are only 6 hrs apart drive time and 45min fly time. Have the organizations figure out a way for drivers to do both. Like the guys who do Indy and the Nascar race, the same day. LOL.
Also, this early in the year/season, its not too late to get the tracks to modify the schedule, However egos would probably prohibit that from happening.

Like your post but how much does this affect the other classes in both organizations. I know we are the center of the universe or sportscar racing and yes in our class all of the above is true.
I'm just trying to be less myopic on things that affect me in racing and in life.

There is the possibility of doing both but........NASA is usually very late producing a race schedule.
in NASA you really need to be there for both Qualifying races as well.

There will be no feasible way to do both if you have any intention of doing well. Even with two cars and two crews. There is the possibility of doing both but........NASA is usually very late producing a race schedule.
