Does anybody with a 99/00 get any CAN data from the OBDII port, especially with an AIM product? Extensive searching finds hope that some people are getting some 1Hz data, but a quick test with the car on stands yields zero live data on my Solo DL. Right now I just want to know if I can get ECT or if I need to buy a standalone gauge.

Doing this from last years memory.

99-00 OBD2 info includes, water temp, rpm, throttle (so slow it is useless) and vehicle speed if yours is hooked up (many are not). Along with some useless info like ps on and ac on

Maybe Roger can chime in with 100% surity

To what Dave said, This come up before and 99-05 obd2 ports do not work with Aim as you would intend. They do work in 06 up cars.

I got ECT & RPM on my 99. The speed is via GPS and the Gear is via aim gear learning procedure. Mine was working randomly at first and i had to pull the obd port wires from the back and used a small screw driver to tighten the pins so they connect better.

I finally fixed this - my "ROOM" fuse, which provides power to the DLC, was blown. I have basic 1hz OBDII data, my mystery CEL is off, and I have interior illumination and warning buzzers I never even knew existed. I stole the A/B fuse (air bags and anti-lock brakes) so I hope there are no surprises on that circuit for the time being.

Generally speaking, OBD data from 2005 and older is not usable. Even from the higher end ECU's in BMW/Porsche etc.

Full disclosure: SMAC chairman, my opinions do not reflect anything to do with the SMAC unless specifically stated.

All I really wanted was ECT and to not lose sessions of data because I forgot to recharge the thing. It matches my AEM gauge step for step.

I pipe data from a 99 from the OBDII into a AIM Evo 4. ECT is usable. TPS and RPM are too slow and erratic to be usable. That doesn't leave much else that you would want from the OBDII. Switching to standalone sensors.
