Gauge was a digital gauge and the test was done by a pro shop. Couldn't tell you the details.

I have seen large diffrtences from gauge to gauge, so much so that I rarely bother except as a quick check for one or two way off from the others. But regardless of absolute values, yea, those are all over the place. Do a careful leak-down to identify the primary points of loss for each.

I agree, some will keep cranking until the gauge stops increasing while others count to like 5 or so "pumps". I consider the results as relative numbers, even with leakdown tests. It's not like we send the gauges out to the Department of Weights and Measures to get certified each season, do we??Well, maybe Drago or Wheeler............

Not sure on the diff ratio. It was raced in SM the year before but I have no idea if they changed the ratios. Unfortunately my data acquisition doesn't have RPM for me to just do the math.

You can find the diff ratio pretty easily.  Jack up the rear end.  How many turns of the driveshaft does it take to turn the wheels?

Hi all,

The motor ended up having a rod bearing let go as I started to power on to the front straight at the last race. Got it shut down quickly but the damage was done.

We ended up getting a used Rossini motor that he and Elaine coordinated getting to us just in time for the race (on only a three week notice, I was very impressed). He was greatly helpful and I'd highly recommend him to anybody in the market for a motor based on our experience.

With the motor in, I ended up winning both races on the weekend by a solid margin and made huge, huge time gains. With some dyno tuning, it should be even better. I had to relearn how to drive the car with so much low-end torque.

Thank you for everybody's help on the forum!

Mike Rossini is one of the really good guys in this class and he and Elaine Rossini go out of their way to help fellow racers. Glad that your new motor is working out well.
