Cleaning up the garage in preparation for starting my '99 build.  I have a '96 junkyard transmission that we used for a dozen or so weekends in the '91 a few years back before it developed 2-3-4 shifting issues as a recall, and we pulled it in favor of a proper rebuilt race box.  I've had it sitting vertical in my garage ever since.  Should I consider sending it off to be rebuilt or is it safer and more cost-effective to just buy an off-the-shelf 99+ unit that didn't have shifting issues before it was rebuilt?

Thanks Frank!  I've been known to occasionally keep parts around the garage "just in case" for a bit too long...wanted to make sure I wasn't doing that this time...
