After having a great 2 weeks at Road America, 5 class victories and 3 other podiums, at The June Sprints . Plus, 2 podiums with Elivan at the World Challenge races this past weekend. I came home to find that our website has been hacked. In order to protect our customers, I am temporarily suspending all internet sales from our website. Even with updated security protection, some thief got in. The system was hacked into between the online cart of our site and the actual payment terminal run by Paypal. For the moment the website will be "down for maintenance". I hope to be able to have everything up and running properly in a few days. Until that happens, please feel free to call in any orders you may have. Our in house payment system is completely separate from the online payment system and was not compromised in any way.

 

Over the next few days we will be adding many of our items to our existing ebay store. You will be able to purchase online through that portal shortly.

 

Fortunately only a handful of customers where effected by this issue. All have been notified of any potential problems ongoing.

 

I hope that this does not effect the relationship that Advanced Autosports has had with the Spec Miata community for the past 15 years. As I have updates I will keep everyone informed.

When you stop and think that all of your wealth and assets in this world are nothing more that an electronic file at a bank, investment house or mortgage company, it scares the crap out of me. It is the world we live in. We have had identity theft and credit cards hacked. so far the damage was caught early.

We are making progress. We found how the hackers got into the website and have closed their "back door". The website is back up for viewing but no purchases can be made directly through the website. Think of it as the Sears catalog from the 1960's. A wishbook of all the things you want, you just have to pick up the phone to place the order.

Like we all don't have enough problems to deal with, then like Jim says, scum happens.

Update; the hackers actually got into the website and rewrote some of the code to allow the money to go to them instead of me. The mods are so imbedded into the system that we are going to completely redo the website using a totally different e-commerce software. It will probably be a week or so to get everything up and running. The new website should have some cool features, so it is not a total waste of time and money.

I know that all of your accounts start with 13 or 666
