I was wondering how many race weekend are the white line offset bushing lasting? I had to replace mine after 10 race weekends, less than 7 months.

Had to replace them why?

Full disclosure: SMAC chairman, my opinions do not reflect anything to do with the SMAC unless specifically stated.

The rubber disintegrated.  Here is the link to the photo, it was too large to upload.

Can't see all that much from the picture.

What caused you to remove the control arm and take a look, a potential bushing issue or something else?

I was struggling at the Jersey Major race on all the right handers, and no matter how I attacked the corners the car was doing something different every single time.

At first I chalked it up to tires, extreme heat conditions, etc however we checked the camber and it gave us different readings after coming off the track (Twice) and when we looked at the bushing they were able to see there was a piece of rubber missing from the upper control arm. It was moving every-time I was turning....

We were able to replace it with a regular bushing for the Sunday race but I was not able to get the camber setting that we liked without the offset bushing,....

The bushings were all installed new just before Christmas and the car participated in the following events in 2016:

Homestead

Sebring

VIR

Summit (twice)

NJMP (twice)

Montecello

Palmer

Ohio (2 times)

Lime Rock

We have been drilling and pop riveting them, just to insure the bushing doesn't rotate.

From Mazdamotorsports.com

"The urethane bushings are designed to eliminate squeaks and groans and never need to be re-greased. The Delrin bushings are are a harder material and need to be re-greased regularly (zerk fittings are included). - "

Which one are yours and did you grease them ?

James, yup, I can also see what looks like a crack and a missing piece. The poster stated the bushing rubber disintegrated. Disintegrated means to me the rubber is pulverized into tiny grains. BUT, if I truly needed to make a decision I'd like to have bushing in hand the same as Dave Wheeler.

Johnny, have you personally installed (heavy press fit) the WhiteLine offset bushings and do you believe there is a load that would shake, rattle and roll the bushings to rotate. The load is pretty much horizontal to the bushing centerline. Please let me know the first time a WhiteLine offset bushing rotates short of a crash situation.

Thanks sevenkillers, don't remember your first name.

I haven't done these. I've only done OEM bushings with my bushing press tools with a table vise and have had no problems.

Jim's drill and pin sounds like the thing to do for rotating.

Then I just read about the grease from Mazda.

Will be interesting to find out how that happened, seems like a ton(s) to rip that on the inside, looks a bit cut but IDK.

When i installed whiteline bushings, I also drilled a hole for a pop rivet.

I have not seen any degradation of the bushings in the cars i have installed them in.

I just received an email from Richard with a pic of the bushing. I will forward to the Whiteline engineer. He is still sleeping in California. When I know something I will post.

As a followup, I have not seen this in any of the bushings we have installed.

The terminology is a bit confusing. There are basicly 2 manufacturers. These are the Whiteline bushings, and they are black in color. The other bransd is ISC who makes them in "white" delrin. I only sell the Whiteline and have no knowledge on the ISC. Advanced has sold several hundred sets of these bushings and this is the first issue that I am aware of.

Until I know more

Dave
