I have a convex rearview and the stock 99 side view mirrors and struggle with both blind spots and the passenger side view mirror location.  Anybody have a good solution, perhaps something that would mount inboard to the cage in the a-pillar area?

I also saw a video today that had a rear view camera display on the dash.  Anything good available that would provide a ~180deg view?

You can move the side mirrors by up to 6" (from memory) if that would help any. Tom moved his forward because the right was partially blocked by the halo and the left by the window net.

I have a round, roughly 4" convex mirror with roll bar mount in the upper right corner just inside the window. It takes some getting used to looking there but even when not deliberate any motion in it catches my eye as I glance right. You might get something like that and move it around looking for a good location.

My review mirror is an Long Acer 18 inch convex mounted to the windshield, much lower than the OEM/roll cage location. Can view out driver's widow all the way to out passenger's.

MAAAANNNY years ago people where playing with mirrors. the SMAC came up with a rule. Paraphrasing here: Only oem outside mirrors, within 6" of the original position on the outside of the door. Yes, we were afraid someone would put the mirror on the inside of the door for aero advantage. Moving the mirror forward does help.

Inside mirrors are open in design and number. You can add fisheye mirrors if you want. Personally I like the oem mirror from a 1.6 car for my interior mirror. It has the correct attachment bracket, so I can hose clamp it to the windshield bar, slightly offset, and still be easily adjustable.

I sell the Longacre mirrors. I have found that the machined aluminum brackets are too strong. When you put any twist in the mirror, the glass gets stressed and eventually cracks. I hope to have a mirror available with some less rigid brackets this off season.

Before the rule change i had my mirror mounted on the pass side front fender. Worked perfect. You did not have to move your head to see it. Not shure why it was ruled out. There was no aero advantage.

Some guys where removing the outside mirror and adding dentist mirrors to help aero. Still met the rule requiring outside mirrors.

I worked on eliminating blind spots during my build back in 2010.  Old thread on old site here

I basically wound up with a Joe's Racing 3" spot mirror on the driver side down tube.  I can't remember if I got it from Advanced Autosports or somewhere but Dave appears to have the clamp on 3" mirror here.  I tried a similar Longacre spot mirror but was unable to make it work since the mirror didn't rotate sufficiently.  The Joe's was perfect.  Love this thing :)

Here it is mounted in my car. This fixes the driver side blind spot for me.

29360487304_f799822054.jpg

I replaced the stock rear view mirror with the Allview mirror.  I love this thing too.  I mounted it off center toward the passenger side and found that I could actually see cars in the passenger side blind spot.  Love this thing also. :)    I think I got it from Dave at Advanced.  Looks like this Fivestar is similar to the Allview...

29360487524_c15385229a.jpg

I had tried one of those 5 panel mirrors and they confused the fudge out of me.  The first time I used it, I looked up and saw 5 of the same car behind me but it wasn't obvious where exactly the car was.  Freaked me out.

I also tried one of the convex mirrors from Longacre and didn't like it.  Because it distorted the image, I found it difficult to quickly visualize where exactly the car behind me was.

Per the rules, I also re-located the stock side view mirrors 6" forward on both sides.  I loved this mod as well.  With the big halo in my old Sparco Pro ADV seat, moving the mirrors forward 6" made it far far easier to see out of them.  It was particularly helpful moving the passenger side mirror as it required less eye/head movement to see out of allowing me to return focus to what was happening in front of me.

Hope that helps.

Randy, you have picture and pm. Post it if you care to and Dave may save development $$$.

Alberto,  I don't get the distortion using the 18 inch LongAcre convex. Can view driver side window to pass side window with mirror mounted to windshield all I do from normal driving view is slightly roll my eyes sideways.

I tried the $80 All-view copies from a reputable SM vendor. They delaminated in the heat and the glass element fell on the floor of my car during a race. The image was fuzzy at best when it worked and the vendor blew me off when questioned about the product of which we bought two full mirrors. It's not for sale on the sight anymore, so I guess they came to the same conclusion.

Anyway. This works...

I have the 5 panels and don't really use my side mirrors.

Can't beat the price for the view.

I see them in the mirror or their along side me.

I could never get one of the round rollbar mounted in a usable position on the right side. Mounted a race mirror on the dash that works well for letting me know what's on that side of me. Though it is taking some retraining for me to remember it's there.

J~

We tried the 5 panel version of the Amazon mirror I linked and it was too wide, the 4 panel version fit fine.
