I just got an email reporting that registration for the March 24-26 Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour event at the Circuit of the Americas will open at 6:00 pm central time this Sunday, February 19. It looks like the schedule and supps have been posted as well.

(I tried to copy and paste the email into this space, but I could figure out how to do to, so I converted in to PDF and attached it.)

DON'T TELL ANYBODY UNTIL I GET REGISTERED!  ;)

If anyone knows how to successfully register 2 different cars in 2 different classes with the same driver, please post instructions.  Any time I register for the 2nd car, the 1st car entry is kicked.  This issue has been ongoing for years with the only solution being a manual entry after contacting the SCCA about the issue.  This doesn't seem plausible for this event given the group count restrictions.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Matt

I can't believe it.  Only 48 SMs and SRF has a full grid at 71.  Where are all the SM racers?

At $895.00 I think they are losing their many of their Sm customer base. That coupled with the fact that many have done the track the first time and the "neweness" has worn off a bit.  Other than being "COTA" and a fantastic facility.. The track itself is not all that much fun in a Miata. It has five second gear corners and it ate diffs and transmissions last time we were there.

I agree with Jim. And in the fact it was designed to have 20-30 cars max racing thus there is a serious lack of paddock space. When we all left the track in 2013 I didn't have anybody mention to me that they were happy or excited to go back.

Ohh an the 895$ is very reasonable inmo considering the track rental fee. Scca has done a good job of keeping the cost down. Compare to NASA that will be charging 1700$ for Friday-Sunday for there race in late May

Not compalianing about the fee.. I think we are all aware that COTA is ridiculously expensive to rent and entry fees need to cover the rental, insurance, sanctioning fees etc.  That still leaves the fact unchanged that COTA or not, I think it is more than many are willing/able to spend. I think when they consider the travel and the fact they can run three weekends at Sebring for that cost, the luster wears a little thin on that apple.

SM is a great class and thus the racing is great most weekends at most tracks. There is little need to head to TX to find a race. I am surprised by the numbers in SRF but I am not sure how their base of drivers is spread.

I wish all who go a great time and expect it to be a ton of fun...

Yep, totally agree.

Meanwhile, all I've heard (frequently enough to annoy me) since 2013 is "When are we going back to COTA?".
