Does anyone have any schematics or drawings of how they mounted gauges in the HVAC vents?  I'm specifically looking for any details on how you managed to have a metal mount (or something more solid than the plastic) behind the tombstone to keep things stable.

Similarly, I bought a second complete dash with the hope of using the above design/drawing of gauge mounting in conjunction with returning to functionality the defroster.

My HVAC controls are broke (don't move the baffles anymore) in addition to the likelihood the end of the defroster tubing under the dash is open allowing any air sent to the defroster to not actually blow on the windshield.

Any help with these questions is appreciated!

Thanks,

Brandon

My small autometer/AEM gauges fit snug enough in the eyeball vents with the plastic housing between the actual vents and the tombstone. The larger autometer gauges fit without the plastic housing straight into the tombstone and just a little trimming of some tabs on the back.

Not a schematic/drawing but I have a volt-meter gauge as well as an AFR gauge mounted on one of these:http://5xracing.com/...=category:95122

Edit: Sorry, you're referring to the eyeball vents. I do have a water-temp gauge on one of the center vents.

My Autometer gauge came with a (iirc) 52mm clip style surround that popped into place of the vent just like Andrew mentioned.

I've seen the 5x Racing plate and actually have it at home and may still use it; there's another that replaces the cubby/radio area with a plate & 3x gauge bracket from DDI(?) that would be interesting but I need the gauges higher in my line of sight.

I was hoping the builders here would have had something more solid that is mounted (welded, bolted?) to the dash bar behind the plastic dash.

Anyone?  Beuler?

May end up doing some mock-ups myself and farm it out to a local fab shop here...

Anyway...thanks for the input otherwise!
