TOPEKA, Kan. (April 5, 2017) – The SCCA Ventures Board of Directors announced today the departure of Mike Collins from the role of President and CEO of SCCA Pro Racing®, effective immediately.

SCCA Ventures, a subsidiary of Sports Car Club of America®, Inc., will announce a replacement shortly.

Can't say I'm at all surprised.  In the corporate world they might lock him in a room for 3-6 months and then give him the boot.

 

I'm sure Mike is a great guy and all, but I didn't see the SCCA tolerating the bad press from anyone.

I'm sure Mike is a great guy and all, but I didn't see the SCCA tolerating the bad press from anyone.

I agree, I think Mike would have been very good for the club. But like I have told many others, Mike has to deal with this situation, the SCCA does not and can chose not to be involved and linked in anyway. Is it fair? probably not.. But as I tell my kids daily.. life's not fair. Mike is a smart guy and will be fine, it is a loss for the club, but I certainly understand the decision.

Too bad. Love him or hate him (and there's plenty in both camps, some even in both camps) as Mitch said he always put the clubs best interest first. He could have done good things for pro.
