I'm currently chasing a low voltage situation at the fuel pump (dropping 3+ volts) and I've confirmed I've got good power "to" and "through" the FP relay under the dash.

Within what bundle of wires is this cable ran back to the top of the fuel tank?

I had the rocker panel bundle of wires undone (to repair some other stuff) and I don't recall seeing a blue/red striped one.

Absent finding & tracing the wire itself, to correct the issue can I run the repair wire inside the cabin directly from the relay plug to the FP connector itself?

I recall wiring repairs were permitted but I didn't necessarily want to unbundle everything and run the replacement in the same manner.

TIA!

Brandon

Probably not your issue but I chased a similar problem on a car a while back. The FP was only getting 9v or so. After going crazy chasing the wiring around for a while I found an old car alarm mounted on the firewall behind the dash that added another relay to the FP circuit. The relay contacts had corroded and that is where the voltage drop was happening.

Thanks for the thought Mark.  I don't think that's the case as the car is a '96 and has been together as a racecar since 2002 (I think).

It seems most of those that ended up with car alarms installed were the 90-93 models and they are notorious for having poorly spliced wires.

I think I'm going to end up chasing/replacing the wire inside the bundle back to the trunk area (under the bolted-in divider panel) and re-tape the whole thing.

Go me.

Yes. This was a 1990. My encounter with it was in 2012. It had been a race car since 2004. I still hate that car.
