You bypassing the heater ?
Should be plug in below to lower tube then, not plugged, I think.
No expert.

Yeah that one gets a cap and a clamp.
Be sure to get the actual cap from Mazda, don't use a vacuum cap, unless you have no choice.

A vacuum cap will get you through the weekend, but order 2 on Monday.

Here's a pic of the cap w/ part number from my Miata engine rebuild blog post.
Might as well get a new OE hose clamp as well in case the old one is tired. You don't want to fudging around back there with the engine in the car. Unless you're like Trump and have tiny hands - and know how to use them.
