Any NASA guys here getting their RRs from Tire Rack? I have been in the past and never had an issue, but recently met an SCCA racer who just bought some for track days and the date codes on them was the 43rd week of 2015! They supposedly just came from TR. I was going to buy them from him (he changed his mind about wanting DE tires for his wife)as they still had stickers on them ,but when I saw the date codes decided to pass. I need tires for the season, but now I am nervous if tire rack is shipping out stock that has been sitting for over a year!

I always get the tires at the track and have them mounted and balanced there.  the small savings I get with having them shipped to me and mounting at my local shop isn't worth the extra half day to do it.

If I'm really in a bind, I find a the local Toyo tire dealer in my area and have him order a set for me and I take my old wheels over there to have them changed.

Also, if it is a new tire and has been stored properly, I'd totally still run those year old RR's.

Of course, I'm the guy pilfering the used RR's from the track tire shop for test day tires.
