I was changing brake pads today and was very confused to find that the top bolt on my RF caliiper is a 17mm bolt, while on the left side the 17mm bolt head is on the bottom.

These are East Street's rebuilds that I put in over the winter. I guess today was the first day I noticed the different bolt/slider sizes.

I checked my old calipers that I took off and they both had the 17mm head on the bottom.

What sort of crazy caliper is this?

Thanks!

you can mount the calipers on the opposite side up side down. I worked on a car that the lefts were on the right and the rights on the left up side down. you may have that situation.

The caliper is marked as an "R" (you can see it in the 2nd pic).

If that was the case the brake line would be on the bottom?

Thanks Jim!

Would the wrong caliper bracket place the pads in a different enough location to cause any problems?
