TOPEKA, Kan. (June 27, 2017) -- A change has been made to the U.S. Majors Tour Mid-States Conference schedule.  The event planned for July 22-23 at Motorsport Park Hastings in Nebraska has been cancelled.  In its place, two additional U.S. Majors Tour events have been added to the 2017 Mid-States Conference calendar.  The first will be August 5-6 at Heartland Park Topeka in Kansas, and the second will take place August 19-20 at High Plains Raceway in Deer Trail, Colorado.

Deanna Flanagan, SCCA’s Director of Road Racing, said the events at Heartland Park Topeka and High Plains Raceway were both previously scheduled as Regional race weekends.  Even though their status has been changed to U.S. Majors Tour events, both weekends will still include some Regional-only classes.

“It is unfortunate that the Hastings event was not able to come together,” Flanagan said. “Since that event served drivers from both the Midwest and Rocky Mountain Divisions, and given that it was the only remaining event on the Mid-States Conference calendar, we felt it was best to provide a couple of opportunities for drivers to complete their U.S. Majors Tour season and fulfill competition requirements for the 2017 SCCA National Championship Runoffs® at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”
